Admittedly happy and content with his current relationship, John Lloyd Cruz said nothing can faze him, not even comments about his supposed weight gain based on a photo posted on social networking sites. Lloydy refused to accept or blame this supposed new look on how happy he is with girlfriend Angelica Panganiban. “I look normal naman ah (laughs). Talagang pag-uusapan natin yan? Pag-usapan natin yan pag medyo ganun na ako. Hindi naman puwedeng i-define ang weight ko or yung physical appearance ko nung pagsasama namin. I mean, kung pumayat ako ibig sabihin ba nun hindi siya masarap mag-alaga? Hindi yun ang basehan para sa akin. Parang hindi siya dapat rini-relate sa status mo eh, kung masaya ka o hindi eh. Siguro dahil wala ako masyadong ginagawa ngayon? Alam niyo sa totoo lang, magmula nung when I started approaching 30, mga late last year nagsimula ako na to engage myself into sports. Tina-try kong tumakbo at saka nag-ba-badminton ako ulit. Na-injure na nga ako eh. Tapos nag-ba-bike ako. Para magawa ko yung gusto gawin, which is kumain (laughs),” he admitted.

Lloydy said after being in showbiz for such a long time, he has learned to handle his critics, whether they comment on his career or his personal relationships. “Wala naman kaming magagawa sa kanila. Kung mas gusto nilang mag-dedicate ng negativity gamit ang oras nila, nasa kanila yun. Kanya-kanya tayo eh. Hindi mo naman sila puwede bawalan o i-hate for doing that kasi parang pag ganun pa nangyari, parang you're just giving them the pleasure of just getting affected sa ginagawa nila. So kami, although may mga pagkakataon talaga especially pag dinadamay ang pamilya mo, yung mga taong hindi na kayang depensahan ang sarili nila, yung mga pribadong tao sa buhay namin pag dinadamay nila, minsan umaabot din kami sa point na parang gusto mo na pumatol. Pero palipasin mo lang ng konting oras and then kaya mo siyang lagpasan. And then you become the bigger person. Kumbaga nasa kanila yun, kung gusto nilang maging productive in a negative way, then it's their choice. Tigil ka lang and let it pass,” he advised.

The 30-year-old actor said he just wants to do his best to make his relationship work with Angelica, regardless what anyone thinks of them. “Well ganun lang naman yung tama di ba? Hindi ba't ganun naman lahat? Ginagawa ko lang yung dapat ginagawa. Hindi siya kasi trabaho, hindi siya obligasyon. Parang yun yung natural sa akin eh. So I guess ganun lang talaga ako magpakita ng pagmamahal,” he added.

After starring in recent blockbuster films like The Mistress and It Takes a Man and a Woman, Lloydy said he is still open to doing indie films if given the opportunity. “Sa totoo lang ang indie naman I'm very open pero siyempre I have to prioritize yung mother studio ko which is Star Cinema. Because kung may gagawin ako, kasi di ba when you say indie it's a venue for you to be experimental. Kung meron kasi akong gagawin ng ganun, I have to consult with my mother studio, parang respeto lang kasi for how many years inalagaan nila yung film career ko and ang ganda-ganda ng nagawa sa akin ng career ko sa pelikula. It brought me to where I am now after 15 years in the business, hindi naman biro na hanggang ngayon pinapanuod ang pelikula mo. Talagang with due respect, mas pina-prioritize ko talaga ang desisyon ng Star Cinema,” he admitted.
