Tart Carlos says her role in 'Ekstra' hits close to home.
Popularly known as Doris of Be Careful with My Heart, Tart Carlos is taking on a new role as an extra and the best friend to Vilma Santos’s character in the acclaimed indie movie Ekstra. In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph
, the actress remarked how honored she was to be working with the Star for All Seasons. “Siyempre
privilege and the pleasure is always mine kasi
Star For All Seasons yan at hindi lahat ng tao nakakatrabaho siya bilang hindi na siya masyadong
movies or sa serye
so masayang-masaya ako
for that,” she said.
According to Tart, working with Governor Vi was a learning process. “Si ate Vi kasi professional eh so we have to be earlier than her. Parang lahat ng klaseng professionalism, memorize ang mga lines, kasi iba sila eh ‘yung mga dating mga actors, iba talaga compared to the actors right now,” she stated. What she noticed the most was how prepared a veteran actress like Vilma is when doing a movie. “Sila eh they always come prepared emotionally, pati ‘yung mga lines nila na memorize nila and all.”
The Ekstra star relayed that she could somehow relate to her character in the movie since she was treated like an ekstra in her past projects. She added that her character is far different from her role in Be Careful with My Heart. “Ito ‘yung side ni Tart na naka-experience talaga being treated as an ekstra kasi Doris of Be Careful with My Heart is so different. It’s not really me. It’s just actually a character I made out of BCWMH, so this time ito ‘yung who actually experience some difficulties nong nagsisimula, na hindi man ako na sweldohan bilang ekstra ako ay natrato naman, so medyo meron akong background. Sometimes I suggest also at I know how to play it because I’ve been there,” she shared.
With the successes that she has achieved now, Tart humbly commented that everything is just a bonus of all the hard work she pours into her job. “Well I just felt na this is just a bonus. Actually I get into show business without thinking of anything. I just want to work and put food on the table. ‘Yun lang ang sa akin and ang pakiramdam ko lang gagawin ko ‘yung tama kasi this is how I stay longer in show business.” She relayed that she continually hones her craft even at this point in her career. “So kung ginawa ko ‘yung tama, ‘yung sa tingin kong magaling na ako, okay na ako, I always play the role and study it,” she stated.
