<div><img src='' alt='081313-vilma_main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>Having to star in numerous movies throughout her career, Vilma Santos relayed that she has personally witnessed how tough the lives of the ektras are. “At some experience,<i> hindi na ako magsasabi ng</i> production’, ‘<i>yung mga ekstra pagdumarating ka sa</i> set, <i>totoo ‘yung mga</i> scenes <i>na hindi alam saan sila ilalagay kasi darating ako, kunwari ang</i> shooting disco, <i>darating ka, alam mo kung saan sila? Nakaupo lang sa bangketa, doon na sila nagma</i>-makeup,<i> ang tanong ko, o bakit nandito pa sila? Ang sabi, ‘Di pa po sila pinapasok kasi wala pa po kaming artista</i>’,” Vilma revealed.</div><div><br/></div><div>Unlike the bit players, she said that regular actors are treated far differently. “<i>Kasi kaming mga artista </i>spoiled <i>kami eh, alam mo ‘yung ang taas-taas na ng bayad namin, tapos pangalawa pagdating mo sa</i> set, <i>ang trato pa ng</i> industry <i>sa iyo iba, may </i>tent <i>ka, tapos nong araw walang</i> tent<i> pa nga eh</i> but they make sure<i> na meron kang kwarto mo, may</i> aircon, <i>tapos tatanungin ka anong gusto mong kainin at ipapabili ‘yung pagkain </i>for you,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>She remarked that it’s disheartening to have witnessed that even during the late hours of shooting, the ektras she have worked with before weren’t receiving enough to fuel them up for work.</div><div><br/></div><div>“<i>Tapos kaming mga artista pagpuyat na, pag</i> 12-hour work <i>o kaya mahaba-haba pa, kami kaagad may</i> Lipovitan (energy drink),<i> papabili kaagad ng taho. Ang mga ekstra tinitingnan ko ‘yung pagkain nila, puyatan yun ah, pagod ah, isang ganitong kaliit na pandesal lang, tapos kape tapos itlog lang. Mahigit labing-dalawang oras kang nagtratrabaho tapos ang </i>scene <i>mabigat kasi lahat gumagalaw</i>,” she divulged.</div><div><br/></div><div>Governor Vi said she tries to extend a hand to the bit players she worked with. She remarked that she truly respects them. “Whether we like it or not, <i>ganon talaga ang buhay ng ekstra.</i> I won’t say anything, but in my own little ways<i> meron din akong ginagawa</i> [for them] but I rather not talk about it <i>kasi hindi magandang pag-usapan pa pero alam ko</i> deep in me <i>na sa mga nakakasama ko sa pelikula ko, palagay ko alam nila ‘yun. Hindi ko man kayang ibigay lahat ng importansya </i>for them<i> at pangangailangan nila pero alam nila na sila’y nirerespeto ko pag nasa</i> set <i>ako bilang bida ng pelikula</i>,” she said.</div><div><br/></div>
