Despite the gag order
issued by the Marikina Family Court towards the camps of estranged couple
Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago, the former’s counsel, Atty. Ferdinand
Topacio with palpable annoyance, rebuffed the latter’s claim that his client is
capable of fabricating facts.
Recall that during last
week’s “The Buzz” episode, Topacio claimed that "May mga ginagawa si Mr.
Raymart Santiago na nalalagay sa panganib ang kanyang [Claudine] kaligtasan
pati narin ang kaligtasan ng kanyang mga anak" something which Santiago
has categorically denied in a statement and even claimed that certain
individuals can prove his accusation about his now estranged wife.
“Ms. Claudine Barretto
maybe a good actress but she is not that good of an actress that in a span of several
days eh maloloko niya ang isang seasoned lawyer na katulad ko,” a fuming
Topacio pointed out during a taped interview aired on “The Buzz” on August 11.
Last August 7, the
Marikina Family Court had granted the Temporary Protection Order sought by the
actress against her estranged husband for her and their kids. According to the
order, Santiago is banned "from inflicting physical, psychological, and
mental abuse to Barretto and the kids."
The ruling likewise
forbade Santiago from coming "within 300 meters of Barretto, their
children, their residence, and the children's schools" and communicating
with his estranged wife, their children and even with their househelp. Lastly,
he was also ordered not to disclose with the media any details about their
case.
For his part, Santiago,
thru his lawyers Atty. Ruth Castelo and Atty. Peter Sanchez, filed a Writ of
Habeas Corpus, an order which led to their return to the court with Barretto
bringing their two children, Sabina and Santino, with her.
After two hours of closed-door
hearing, Santiago came out with a positive aura saying that he is “Masaya,
masaya lang ako ngayon.”Meanwhile, in a different interview still aired on the
same “Buzz” episode Topacio disclosed that the actress was currently “okay.”But
according to him, the 34-year-old actress, in the process of their filing of a
TPO has come into a sad realization.
“Narealize niya na with
the filing nung aming TPO, that was the point na narealize niya na the marriage
was over and na wala ng tsansa na maayos pa,” supplied Topacio as to Claudine’s
“source of sadness.
He continued that, “She
did everything in her power na hindi sila magkahiwalay, na magkaayos sila for
the sake of the marriage and for the sake of the children.”
According to reports,
the Barretto camp is now considering escalating the TPO to a Permanent
Protection Order (PPO).
