Gary Valenciano says he will always be there to give advice to fellow ASAP performer Billy Crawford.
After his recent contract-signing with The Filipino Channel
) last July 29, Monday inside the ABS-CBN compound, Gary Valenciano said he feels proud to be part of the Kapamilya network's international channel. “I’m so privileged na ako yung piniling maging
spokesperson ng TFC
. Sa ASAP pa lang, yung
percentage ng mga
TFC subscribers watching live sa
studio ay tumataas
every week. Every week we ask them to put their hands up and so far the percentage is rising so I’m excited na magkakaroon ako ng pagkakataon na pumunta sa iba’t ibang lugar na maaaring hindi ko pa napupuntahan
in the past 30 years to specifically zero in on the Filipinos who are there. This is something that I think is going to be very good for not just me, but I think for the Pinoy
s because we’ll be bringing Filipino entertainment there,” he said.
After his contract-signing, Gary was asked to weigh in on the unexpected breakup between Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil (who are both his colleagues in the weekly variety show ASAP) and on Billy's very emotional interview on The Buzz last Sunday, July 28. “They’re very close to me. Napanuod ko ng konti yung sinabi ni Billy and I'm really, really am concerned about that young man. But I respect that they both know, parang nag-mature na rin sila and nung kinausap ko si Billy, kinausap ko si Nikki, wala silang masamang sinasabi tungkol sa isa’t isa. Bill admits that there’s something going on in him which sabi ko, I will always be around for that. if he wants to talk, kung gusto niyang mailabas lang yung kung ano man yun, I’ll even just listen kung yan ang kailangan niya, yan lang ang gagawin ko,” he said.
Gary admitted that he is concerned for child star-turned-international singer Billy because of their longtime friendship. “Billy is very, very dear to me dahil yung isa sa mga unang concerts niya as a young boy was in my concert sa Music Museum. So there’s a link between me and him and he is an international artist that’s going through a lot here at home. So sana yung mga taong pumapaligid sa kanya, yung mga taong kino-consider niya as kapamilya, yung tunay na kapamilya talaga, I hope that kasali na rin ako dun. I hope we can all help and really give him the space that he needs, give him a chance and kung ano man ang binanggit niya sa The Buzz, let's give him that chance to find himself. And then let him be. Because when he comes back naniniwala ako na he will be refined in every aspect of his life,” he admitted.
The talented performer also admitted it was true that Nikki almost broke down in front of him two weeks ago before the couple's breakup became public. “Actually ang nangyari there was an awards night one week ago, yung Yahoo OMG awards kung saan nag-usap kami ni Billy. That was a Friday night. Pagdating ng Sunday nakita ko si Nikki nag-uusap sila ni Enchong (Dee) sa dressing room. Kuwentuhan lang sila. So lumapit ako, I said, ‘Hi Nikki!’ then she looked at me. Siguro alam niya na alam ko. Sabi ko, ‘Hey, I just want to give you a hug.’ Pagyakap ko sa kanya yun na, parang bumigay siya ng konti. Tapos si Enchong nakatingin ng ganun. But that’s my role eh, that’s my role in that show. If I can be there for people who need a hug, a word of encouragement, a word of assurance, I’ll play that role to the hilt talaga. Gagawin ko talaga yun, and that’s what I did. So yun ang nangyari. And then with Billy sa ASAP ganun din. I hugged him and sabi niya sa akin, ‘Pray for me, I’m coming out on The Buzz.’ But that’s really what kapamilya is all about and yan ang gusto ko ipakita sa lahat ng tao at dapat malaman din ng tao na ang pagiging kapamilya namin ay hindi lang sa ASAP, it’s in front and behind the camera. That’s what we are to each other,” he said.
