Vice Ganda says he's fast recovering from his vocal illness

OMG Awards</i> held at the MOA Arena, Pasay City last Friday night, July 19. Good thing his doctor allowed him to do so since he’s been on sick leave for the past week and was advised to rest his voice to avoid further injury. “Excited<i> ako sa araw na ito na dumating. Kasi ngayon ako</i> in-allow<i> ng</i> doctor <i>na magsalita ulit. Pero </i>with care <i>dapat. Hindi ko dapat i</i>-stress <i>ang boses ko. Ngayon lang ako pwedeng magsalita </i>after seven straight days<i> kasi ito rin yung araw na inawardan ako ng Yahoo! OMG award,</i> so <i>sobrang </i>significant <i>sa akin ng araw na ito</i>,” he said in an interview with entertainment reporters.</div><div><br/></div><div>Asked when he’ll be back on <i>It’s Showtime</i>, Vice explained that he seems to be recovering pretty well. In fact the Phenomenal Box Office Star joined other Kapamilya stars in a concert tour in London last weekend. “<i>Lumiit na yung mga</i> polyps, <i>pero nandoon pa rin. Kailangan na maayos iyon</i> through steroids and total voice rest. <i>Nakita naman nila na </i>okay<i> na,</i> so <i>kapag </i>okay<i> na ang lahat, pwede na akong bumalik</i> anytime. Excited <i>na rin ako eh</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Vice further shared that he actually suffered from the said vocal illness during his preparation for his <i>i-Vice Ganda Mo Ako concert</i> at the Araneta Coliseum. “After<i> nung </i>concert<i>, lalong lumala kasi na</i>-stress. <i>Sabi ng</i> doctor, misuse and abuse of voice raw. <i>Yung</i> upper part ng vocal cords ko, <i>hindi na nasasara kaya malayang nakakalabas ang</i> air.<i> Kaya kapag dire</i>-diretso <i>ang salita ko, nakakahingal. </i>So, <i>tuloy pa rin,</i> steroids. <i>Kaya nga nakakataba kasi araw-araw akong nagsi</i>-steroids.”</div><div><br/></div><div>As per his doctor’s advice, it might be recommended that he undergo surgery if the steroids fail to cure his polyps. “<i>Yung iba raw kasi lalo na yung mga </i>singer, <i>parang </i>okay <i>lang magkaron ng</i> polyps <i>kasi nagkakaroon ng ibang tunog yung boses nila, nagkakaroon ng </i>roughness. <i>Pero ‘di raw </i>safe yun. <i>At kapag pinapakinggan ko, hindi na</i> pleasant<i> tunog ng</i> voice ko, <i>kailangan ko na sumigaw, tapos parang garalgal. Bago ka matawa sa</i> punchline, <i>ma</i>-annoy <i>ka muna sa tunog.</i> Kailangan<i> ko i</i>-cure<i> na</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>In the meantime, Vice expressed his support for Charice and Aiza Seguerra who are slated to have a concert together soon. As an avid supporter of the gay-lesbian community, the comedian added that it’s good to see that society is becoming more open-minded about those who proudly come out with their gender preference. “<i>Kung meron mang tao na lubos na magiging masaya diyan, dapat ako. Kasi isa ako sa mga pinakamapangahas na bakla na makikita araw-araw sa telebisyon, naririnig sa</i> radio, <i>nakikita sa pelikula. Kaya isa ako sa mga masaya kasi lahat ng bakla makikinabang diyan</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Vice added that he will definitely watch Charice and Aiza’s concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in September. “<i>Kaya nga nung nalaman ko na may </i>concert <i>si</i> Charice and Aiza Seguerra,<i> sabi ko dapat nandoon ako. Dapat makanuod ako ng </i>concert<i> nila</i>.”</div><div><br/></div>
