Cherie Gil admits she enjoys playing a challenging role in 'Muling Buksan Ang Puso'

When I came back from the States, <i>dito na talaga ako nasabak agad </i>and then when Deo Edrinal talked to me about the project, there was no way I could not do it. Even when there was a point where I really wanted to rest for a while, <i>bale</i> in the past four years <i>parang pang-</i>nine <i>ko na ata</i> <i>itong</i> fantastic project. And every time I end up with <i>ABS-CBN</i>, it’s always so epic, it’s always a first like when we started with <i>Gulong ng Palad,</i> it was the first book <i>na na</i>-can <i>yung</i> show. I’m always grateful <i>na</i> I’m given this opportunity and I know I’m always being taken care of and at the same time I’ve always been a freelancer and as an actor I’ve always said <i>na</i> wherever I’m needed that’s where I’ll go especially <i>pag</i> challenging <i>ang</i> papel. And this role I’m playing is totally different and I’m really, really excited to keep going to work <i>dahil sa</i> challenge <i>ng </i>role <i>na ito</i>,” she admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Cherie said her character is a victim of circumstance. “This is a woman who has gone through a lot of hardships in life <i>na </i>basically <i>mahirap yung laging umiiyak para sa akin, yung laging</i> suffering. Although on the lighter side she plays the barrio lass so <i>haliparot ako dito at malandi</i> so that’s the good side (laughs). And I’m totally deglamorized,” she explained.</div><div><br/></div><div>Cherie said she is happy to be working with her peers like Jestoni Alarcon, Daniel Fernando, and Agot Isidro. “I am so glad to be part of this very wonderful show and be with my dear friend Agot. It's been a continuous celebration of my 50th year and comeback to this place where I've been able to work with these great people and be able to connect with wonderful human beings and I'm so happy to hear with what they have to say and for all that you have done for me in my 35 years in the business. There as time when I wanted to rest and my kids were away. I wanted to spend more time with them, but this is my calling and I love it so much. I cannot help it. And my family, we support each other, we're there for each other. It's part of my life. Even my kids I want them to know that I'm trying to do my best to fill in the time when I'm not with them so they know that my absence is worth it somehow and that I do my best,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The veteran actress also revealed who was her inspiration for her latest role. “<i>Natutuwa ako, aaminin ko sa inyo ang</i> peg <i>ko dito si</i> Mylene Dizon. For characters <i>basta astig siya</i>, I can say she's very feminine and you'll fall in love with her.
