Jake Cuenca on Lovi Poe: 'Okay kami pero we're both single'

<div><img src='' alt='071013-jake_main.jpg' height='290' align='left' border='0' width='305'>Jake Cuenca admitted that his role as a public bus driver in the upcoming Skylight Films black comedy <i>Tuhog</i> is one of the most interesting projects of his career. “This a movie <i>na</i> even in the States you haven't seen before.<i> Ibang iba siya talaga</i>. It's a different brand, it's a different taste. <i>Pag pinanuod niyo yung pelikula namin kakaibang </i>experience <i>ang mararanasan niyo dito. Nung nabasa namin yung </i>script,<i> iba siya talaga eh at hindi mo siya mahihindian. Unang una, para sa akin,</i> I always wanted to work with Eugene Domingo and that is always a different experience I enjoy maybe a little too much (laughs),” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The 25-year-old actor-model said doing <i>Tuhog</i> (which also stars Leo Martinez, Enchong Dee, and Empress) is a challenge for him because it is outside of his comfort zone in acting which is drama. “<i>Yun</i>g movie <i>kasi, hindi siya</i> <i>minount na parang</i> slapstick at all <i>eh. Nakakatawa yung</i> situations. <i>Nakakatawa yung mga nanagyayari sa kanila pero iba yung</i> approach, <i>hindi kami yung nagpapatawa </i>at all. <i>At yung</i> movie <i>may</i> drama so <i>nung nakita ko yung</i> script<i> na may</i> drama, <i>nandun yung </i>comfort zone<i> ko, nandun ako sa nakasanayan ko</i> all this time <i>pero madali kasi yung</i> comedy natural<i> lumabas, napaka</i>-natural <i>din ni</i> Miss Eugene so <i>yung </i>banter <i>namin, yung</i> dialogue <i>namin yun yung nakakatuwa kasi</i> natural<i> lang,</i> so <i>yun yung mga naging nakakatawa para sa akin. Marami akong natutunan sa kanya kasi napaka-</i>natural <i>nyang aktres at ang sarap makatrabaho yung aktres na ganun</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>When it comes to his personal life, after months of keeping mum about the real status of his relationship with Lovi Poe, Jake said he is okay with their friendship for now. “<i>Ayun,</i> we're both single (laughs). Okay <i>naman.</i> Okay <i>kami pero</i> we're both single. Lie low, busy. <i>Parehas kaming </i>single so <i>yun na lang</i>. Let's just keep it at that. One thing's for sure<i> naman,</i> okay <i>kami. </i>We're friends and everything so that's the most important thing,” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>After publicly admitting his feelings for her earlier this year, Jake said he is happy with their current status. But it dos not mean they are closing their doors on each other. “At the moment<i> talaga,</i> we haven't really been talking. We haven't been seeing each other. Let's just keep it at that. <i>Basta ang importante lang sa akin</i>, I wish to work with her again <i>kasi </i>I really enjoyed having her as a leading lady several times and <i>magkaibigan pa rin kami </i>and that's the most important thing. Again, my status is single,” he stressed.</div><div><br/></div><div>Busy promoting <i>Tuhog</i> and preparing for his upcoming soap, a remake of the Mexican <i>telenovela Maria Mercedes</i>, Jake said he has no time to date anybody. “<i>Hindi, wala muna, hindi muna kami nag-uusap</i> [<i>ni</i> Lovi]. <i>Ako </i>okay<i> naman ako, </i>meeting people. In-e-exercise <i>ko din naman yung</i> right<i> ko maging</i> single.
