Jake Cuenca admitted that his role as a public bus driver in the upcoming Skylight Films black comedy Tuhog is one of the most interesting projects of his career. “This a movie na even in the States you haven't seen before. Ibang iba siya talaga. It's a different brand, it's a different taste. Unang una, para sa akin, I always wanted to work with Eugene Domingo and that is always a different experience I enjoy maybe a little too much (laughs),” he said.
The 25-year-old actor-model said doing Tuhog (which also stars Leo Martinez, Enchong Dee, and Empress) is a challenge for him because it is outside of his comfort zone in acting which is drama.
When it comes to his personal life, after months of keeping mum about the real status of his relationship with Lovi Poe, Jake said he is okay with their friendship for now. “Ayun, we're both single (laughs). Okay naman. Okay kami pero we're both single. Lie low, busy. Parehas kaming single so yun na lang. Let's just keep it at that. One thing's for sure naman, okay kami. We're friends and everything so that's the most important thing,” he said.
After publicly admitting his feelings for her earlier this year, Jake said he is happy with their current status. But it dos not mean they are closing their doors on each other. “At the moment talaga, we haven't really been talking. We haven't been seeing each other. Let's just keep it at that. Basta ang importante lang sa akin, I wish to work with her again kasi I really enjoyed having her as a leading lady several times and magkaibigan pa rin kami and that's the most important thing. Again, my status is single,” he stressed.
Busy promoting Tuhog and preparing for his upcoming soap, a remake of the Mexican telenovela Maria Mercedes, Jake said he has no time to date anybody. Ako okay naman ako, meeting people. Let's just keep it at that (laughs),” he said.
