After starring in a few movies and hit teleseryes, Enrique Gil said he wants to venture more into different genres of shows to know the career path he wants to pursue. “I like action. Gusto ko rin ng drama or comedy. Depende pa eh. I want to venture more kasi minsan nakakagawa ako ng comedy but really, really solid comedy. So gusto ko muna i-try ang lahat para don ko malaman kung ano ‘yung para sa akin,” he remarked during an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph.
Enrique also shared that he wants to do independent films to expand his horizons as an actor, but not at this time. “Gagawin ko [ang indie film] pero huwag muna daw ngayon. Mainstream muna tayo. Pag medyo I want to try something different naman, I want to try indie. Pero stick muna ako sa mainstream as of now,” he said.
He is set to star in Muling Buksan Ang Puso alongside Julia Montes and Enchong Dee. He admitted that this new show will truly test his versatility as an actor. “Feeling ko ito na ang biggest project yet. So kung palaki na ng palaki ang project, ibig sabihin, kailangan pagaling ka ng pagaling. So pressured, kailangan maganda ‘yung kalabasan ng show namin,” he commented.
Despite the pressure, the actor is happy to work with the team of his new teleserye. He shared that his new soap is undergoing some major preparations. “I;m really happy sa cast namin, sa mga directors, sa plano. Nagmeeting na kami. Sobrang solid ‘yung preparation para dito. So I just want to start already. Hindi pa ako nakapag-taping. So hopefully makapag-taping soon na,” he said.
On working with Julia and Enchong, the actor relayed that it felt like a reunion since they already worked together before. “Parang reunion lang. Parang wala namang nagbago. Parang nag reunite lang ulit,” he said.
Enrique also talked about what he felt being part of the 21st anniversary celebration of Star Magic. “Hindi ko alam na kasing tanda ko na pala ‘yung Star Magic, 21 na. I’m just happy na I feel like I’m really part of this family. Don ako masaya. Dito talaga, masasabi kong pamilya ko talaga ‘to! I’m happy and thankful.”
