Even after recently being elected as councilor in the second district of Laguna, 6CycleMind vocalist Tutti Caringal said he would never turn his back on his band. “Whatever I do on the side or outside 6CycleMind, I will still go back to 6CycleMind. And doing the duties ng councilor isn’t heavy naman. It’s a matter of scheduling. In fact before when I was playing for 6CycleMind, I was the vocalist of another band called Protein Shake. It was under the same management so a matter of scheduling lang talaga,” he explained.
Tutti admitted it never even crossed his mind to go solo despite having already appeared in Kapamilya shows like Showtime and ASAP. “You know I personally don’t see myself doing that, yung mag-so-solo artist, solo singer. Hindi eh, I’m more of a group person and yun yun. Bottom line is, whatever I do on the side or outside 6CycleMind, I will go back to 6CycleMind at the end of the day,” he said during the presscon for the band's back-to-back concert with Callalily entitled Switch at the Music Museum.
Tutti said he has always planned to go into public service. “I guess this was a hunger I had to feed because I come from a family of military people. On my mom's side, tatlo ang nag-PMA (Philippine Military Academy) dun and sa dad's side ko apat yung nag-PMA. My dad's a general and my grandfather was the former secretary of National Defense. Medyo linya namin yun, yung public service. So nag-PMA din ako pero hindi ko natapos. I guess yung frustration kung paano ko matutuloy yun is through politics or public service. Sinubukan ko lang naman eh. In fact nung 2010 gusto ko na sana subukan but hindi ako pinayagan ng dad ko. So now nagkaroon ng opportunity tutal subok lang naman and I really didn't think na kakayanin ko pero awa ng Diyos nag-number five ako so maraming salamat sa sumuporta. And nandito na ako so I just plan to do what's best sa city na paglilingkuran ko. But then again, uulitin ko, hindi ko iiwan ang 6CycleMind,” he said.
The talented musician said his exposure in showbiz was a big help during his campaign. “Definitely. Even yung paglabas ko sa Showtime malaking bagay talaga. It was to my advantage and I will not deny that but I'd like to think other than that I think yung proving ground talaga was the focus meetings, kung paano mo i-present yung sarili mo sa mga speeches mo and I think I gained a lot of respect sa mga tao dun and madaming naniwala kung paano ko dinala yung sarili ko dun,” he explained.
When it comes to his personal life, Tutti refused to go into specific details but revealed his new showbiz crush. “Masyado po akong busy para sagutin yan (laughs). Actually let's just say I'm happy. Marami akong ginagawa and I'm blessed with a good career and a loving family. Nung nanuod ako ng Sisterakas, in love na ako kay Kathryn Bernardo! Sobrang ganda niya. Nakita ko siya sa ASAP, sobrang ganda niya. Nag-promote kasi kami sa Switch. Kaso wala akong magawa kasi ka-holding hands niya si Daniel (Padilla) so nagmukmok lang ako sa isang tabi (laughs). Pero okay lang yun,” he joked.
Tutti also asked a favor from the media in case they get to interview the Got To Believe star. “Kung makausap niyo si Kathryn sana bigyan niya ako ng fan sign tapos ilagay niyo sa Instagram. Matutuwa na po ako nun. It would be much appreciated,” he added.
Tutti said he is excited about 6CycleMind and Callalily's June 7 concert because their bands are really good friends. “Kasi on and off the stage, talagang magkakasama kami so you can not discount the fact na dikit talaga kami especially since we’re under the same management so talagang ganun ang mangyayari sa amin,” he said.
The band vocalist said this is why there is no rivalry between their two groups. “What’s nice kasi with the fans of Callalily and 6CycleMind is that they crossover eh. Kunwari may show kami sa Davao, sasalubungin kami ng mga Callalily fans. They support both bands. And they go to our shows. We’re actually making it bigger. Ang ginagawa namin pinag-ko-combine namin yung mga fans namin, yung Minders and mga Callalista. Kino-combine namin sila para maging isang malaking group sila of people who love music, who love the songs of 6CycleMind and Callalily na puwede ring mag-grow at mabuksan yung musical minds nila to other artists na Pinoy din. Gusto lang namin palawakin yung range ng inaabot ng music namin,” he explained.
