Paulo Avelino is proud of his two Cinemalaya indie films this year

<div><img src='' alt='061213-paulo_main.jpg' align='left' border='0' height='290' width='305'>Paulo Avelino is currently busy working on two independent films this year. “For TV, I have no projects as of the moment but I have two films coming out for Cinemalaya. One is called <i>Debosyon</i> with Mara Lopez for the New Breed category and the other one for the Director’s Showcase. It’s called <i>Sana Dati </i>and it’s directed by Jerrold Tarog with Lovi Poe. It’s a love story. <i>Parehong</i> love story,” he told <a href='http://www.Push.com.ph'>Push.com.ph</a>.</div><div><br/></div><div>The 25-year-old actor shared that he was impressed with his co-star Lovi who was also one of his leading ladies in a recent movie. “I’ve worked with her a lot of times and <i>nagugulat ako lagi sa</i> performance <i>niya.</i> I think she’s a very good actress. I think she’s a very sensitive and giving actress. I think <i>yun yung</i> magic <i>niya kung bakit nag-wo</i>-work<i> lagi yung pagkakasama namin</i> on camera,” he shared.</div><div><br/></div><div>Paulo also said doing<i> Debosyon</i> presented a different kind of acting challenge for him. “<i>Debosyon </i>is different because it was shot in Bicol. I spoke in Rinconada, an old Bicolano dialect. I know the local language <i>pero hindi siya yung</i> Bicol <i>lang talaga</i>, it’s kind of different. <i>Sa Debosyon kasi </i>we based <i>yung mga</i> characters<i> namin sa buhay talaga sa </i>Bicol and <i>sa</i> Penafrancia festival <i>sa</i> Bicol. We’re done with both films <i>na</i>. Pre-prod<i> na lang ngayon</i>,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Paulo said he also considers it a privilege to work with talented directors Jerrold Tarog and Alvin Yapan on both projects. “Well both directors have won many awards. But I’m always excited to work with them because they always come out with something new. Alvin Yapan is a brilliant writer, he knows what he wants to do and what he wants to see when he directs. Jerrold<i> naman</i> is very technical and <i>masyado siyang mabusisi sa lahat </i>and I think that is Jerrold’s edge,” he shared.</div><div><br/></div><div>The talented actor also admitted that his fans should watch out for a nice surprise when they catch his film with Mara Lopez. “For <i>Debosyon</i> there’s one scene that stands out <i>pero</i> I can’t really tell <i>eh</i>. <i>Basta</i> it’s something shocking, something never done in Cinemalaya before. Expect it to be something different. It’s not your typical love story.
