Although he started out playing music, Kean Cipriano said he was just as busy acting in various projects as well. Even after doing movies like Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank and The Reunion, Kean said he would never give up his singing to become a full-time actor. “Callalily is my heart and soul, it’s the air that I breathe. It’s where I think I belong in this world. This may sound cheesy but it’s true. Callalily is my core, Callalily is my heart and my family. Kaya parang whatever happens, kung ano man project gawin ko, kung anong movies man, TV shows man, kumbaga parang at the end of the day it’s still going to be Kean Cipriano of Callalily. So why would I ever leave the thing that I love most in my life? It’s the music and the brotherhood and it’s me, it’s us,” he shared during the presscon for the upcoming Callalily and 6CycleMind concert dubbed “Switch” on June 7, Friday at the Music Museum.
The 25-year-old singer said he is excited about preparations for their show. “It’s our first ever back-to-back concert and it’s a concept show. We promise that this is a special show. Naisip namin gumawa ng show na may concept. Bakit Switch ang name? Nagbrainstorm kami at linuto namin yung concept na lahat nagbibigay ng ideas kaya napunta dito sa concept na ito,” he shared.
Kean said their fans 1can look forward to this one-night only event. “Una sa lahat, hindi namin alam kung puwedeng magpalitan ng kanta. I mean it can happen or it can’t happen but one thing’s for sure, it’s a special show. Puwedeng mag-switch ng kanta, puwedeng mag-switch ng bokalista, ng gitarista. We do shows together like shows during fiesta and bars pero they do their thing and we do our things pero ang Callalily may ibang set list yan gaya ng 6CycleMind may ibang kini-cater din yan sa public. Pero ito yung show na magkasama talaga kaming dalawa, parang we treat each other as brother bands and parang ita-tie namin ang isa’t isa sa Switch concert sa Music Museum and it’s not actually a back to back concert, it’s a side to side concert na dun niyo lang makikita. Madaming foreign shows coming to the country and it’s really good, them coming to our country is good but parang yung push din na ‘Oy puwede rin kayo sa concert na may ticket ng local bands,” he explained.
Despite his crossover to acting, Kean said he has never thought of leaving his band. “Isang linggo na hindi ko nakasama banda ko parang magkakasakit ako. kasi 17 years old kami nung tumutugtog kami, nag-sign kami sa label. We’ve been building this dream together with our management and everyone who believes in us. Why would you ever leave something like that? Kaya ako, hindi ko makikita yung sarili ko na ganun. I’ve done a solo project with ABS-CBN na ginuest nila ako sa project nila and kasama ko pa rin yung Callalily dun. Lahat ng ginagawa ko, kung nakikita man ako sa ASAP, sa TV shows or movies, it’s always going to be Kean Cipriano of Callalily. Callalily will be my surname for the rest of my life,” he said.
Kean said he also appreciates the support he gets from comedian Vice Ganda. “Si Vice kasi, he is someone really close to my heart na simula pa lang nag-cross ako ng line sa acting world ay isa siya na masasabi kong kaibigan ko sa business na ito. I’ve been supporting yung mga shows na ginagawa niya and siya rin ever since lalo na yung mga major shows na ginawa namin, lahat ng puwedeng tulong na magagawa niya ginawa niya and binabanggit niya sa Showtime nung may show kami dati, nagti-tweet siya about it like kung wala siyang ibang gagawin pupunta siya.isang malaking bagay na yun na support para sa akin kasi just spreading the word is a very, very big thing. I’ll try to invite Vice to our concert. Kung darating yun manggugulo yun sigurado (laughs),” he admitted.
