Child star Izza Canillo is ecstatic as he topbills My Little Juan

His portrayal of the young Juan in Juan dela Cruz earned positive feedback. It paved the way for Izzy to lead in the spin-off of the hit primetime teleserye. The young star commented that without the support of the viewers, his new show wouldn’t be possible. “Kung di po dahil sa mga tao na nanonood ng teleserye di po ako magkakaroon ng My Little Juan,” he said.
When asked how he feels now that he’s being tagged as the new child wonder of ABS-CBN, he commented, “Masaya po kasi po ‘yung pangarap ko po ngayon natupad. Gusto ko po talagang sumikat.”
Izzy shared that he looks up to Coco Martin as an actor. “Kasi po pag nagtataping po kami mabilis po siyang magtaping. Nakakarami po ‘yung nagagawa namin.” On the tips that he got from his kuya Coco, he relayed, “Palagi pong huwag makulit, lagi pong sumunod sa director para mabilis at tsaka dapat di po daw makulit para hindi magulo ang buhok at magusot ang mga damit.”
Initially, Izzy dreamed of becoming a star because he wants to buy a house for his family. “Kasi po nakakita po ako ng bahay tapos sabi ko, ‘Mommy paano po natin mabibili yan?’ Tapos sabi mag-artista po daw ako.” Izzy joined Star Circle Quest in 2009 and won as first runner-up. He starred in a number of shows after his win. He shared that they already bought a house in Cavite.
Izzy is the eldest among the four children in the family. His father is currently a cook in a hotel and his mother is a housewife taking care of his three siblings. He relayed that his dad is his companion during taping days, “Madalas po si daddy ang [kasama ko sa taping]. Nag-aabsent na lang po siya sa work.” He’s currently home-schooled while doing My Little Juan.
