Beauty queen-turned-TV host Venus Raj denied rumors that she and boyfriend Drei Felix were removed from the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda due to their constant public displays of affection inside the studio. “There was a reformat. Kami kasi nila Iya (Villania) and Drei are more of entertainment hosts. Ngayon gusto nila yung hosts nila are news people. I don’t know the others. It’s not about that (PDA issue),” said Venus in an interview with Push.abs-cbn.com at the Watsons’ press launch of their ‘More Value, More Life’ campaign held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel last Tuesday, April 2.
Venus shared that she was a bit disappointed that such malicious rumors about her and Drei still persist even if they aren’t the type who mind other people’s business. “Oo naman nagulat ako. Saan na naman nanggagaling yung mga ganito? It’s not about that. You mean nakiki-PDA ba si Iya? But it doesn’t matter as long as it’s not true.
As it is, the 24-year-old is very open about her relationship with Drei and would often post pictures of their romantic escapades via Twitter. Asked if she would still be comfortable sharing their sweet photos online, the former beauty queen was quick to say that she wouldn’t let intrigues affect the way she lives.
At any rate, Venus maintained that she prefers to take such criticisms in a positive light so she could also improve as a person.
Although she admittedly felt bad when she learned about the sudden reformat of the show, Venus said that she understands that it’s just the way things work. More than anything else, she’s grateful because her experience in UKG trained her to become a better host. Si Jonas (Gaffud, her talent manager) unang kinausap. Pero bumabalik lang ako sa Bible: ‘For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. True enough after that, nakapag-work na ako ng out of town kasi dati ‘di ko yun magawa dahil may conflict sa schedule.”
In the meantime, Venus is thrilled that she gets to work closely with fellow beauty queens Shamcey Supsup and Marie Ann Umali in their latest health and beauty endorsement. “Itong campaign namin ni Shamcey, this is for the hair. Nakakatuwa kasi they’re my friends, they’re from Bb. Pilipinas as well tapos magkakasama kami sa isang campaign.
