Daniel Padilla admits he is an old soul when it comes to taste in music.
As successful as he is right now, rising teen Kapamilya star Daniel Padilla revealed he also has his share of bashers and haters online. The 17-year-old actor-musician said he is very much thankful to all his loyal fans who have stayed by his side.
“Sa mga tumutulong at dini-defend talaga kami, thank you very much.
Currently preparing for his first major concert, Daniel LIVE: A Birthday Concert at the Araneta Coliseum on April 30, DJ said he is not bothered by those who have been criticizing his singing.
During his April 11 solo presscon for the concert, DJ said he is not bothered nor pressured being touted as the Justin Bieber of the Philippines. The comparison comes from their meteoric rise to fame and large fan base. Talagang old soul ako; ayoko ng ganung music, more on luma talaga yung gusto kong pinapakinggan.
DJ admitted that his orientation in music veers more towards classic rock rather than popular music. “Siguro ‘60s hanggang ‘90s rock. So dun naman ako lumaki dati so every day bukas lang yung radyo nun so yung music niya lahat luma so yun ang naririnig ko. Kasi rock star na rock star talaga yun eh. Pagkatapos memorize na namin yung CD mismo tapos hanggang pati Scorpions lahat pinakinggan namin, Deep Purple, lahat. So tapos nung naintindihan ko na mismo yung music na ganun, na-olats na ako sa mga bagong music,” he said.
When asked if given the choice, would he prefer singing over acting, DJ admitted that he would choose the latter. Apart from playing bass for his band Parking 5, DJ admitted that he is not fully confident when it comes to singing as compared to acting. Salamat na lang at binigyan ako ng konting talent sa pagkanta,” he said.
