Although the actors admit that they are special to each other, they don't want to rush in a relationship yet.
The afternoon teleserye Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Paraiso has run for six months, which makes it the longest-running PHR presentation. The said series is now down to its last week. With that span of time, the Jessy Mendiola-Matteo Guidicelli starrer paved the way for the two actors to establish a deep relationship.
On The Buzz this Sunday, March 31, Matteo confessed, “Part of me is sad because we’re ending soon, because these last few weeks, that’s the time that we got closer to each other.” Matteo then turned to Jessy and told her that he would be very honest in the interview and admitted that he really didn’t have any idea how they were able to jive. He recalled that in the beginning of their project, he thought that Jessy was intimidating, but she turned out to be the exact opposite.
Then the actress confessed that she previously thought that her leading man was obnoxious and was ready to settle for a professional relationship throughout the duration of their teleserye. “[But] as time went by, we got closer and closer,” revealed Jessy.
The Buzz host Boy Abunda then candidly asked the two if there's truth to the rumors that they are officially a couple. After a long pause, it was Matteo who answered first, “In our relationship, I don’t want to put label (like) boyfriend-girlfriend, or anything. What we have—from my point of view—what we have… Jessy is very special to me. She’s very special to me.” To which Jessy candidly replied, “Matteo makes me happy.”
Jessy further shared that her leading man, who is a triathlete, has invited her to train with him for triathlon. Matteo jokingly added, “Jessy Mendiola will be the next female triathlete of the Philippines.”
Given Matteo’s evasive answer about the real score between them, the actress was asked if she is afraid to be judged by the society of agreeing to be in a “no-label” relationship, which is unconventional in Filipino culture. Jessy hesitantly replied, “That’s the thing, I want him to make ligaw. I don’t see the point why we have to have labels…”
In response, Matteo cited the song “Take It Slow” by John Legend, to suggest that he does not want to rush things for now. “There’s still a long way to go. The longer you wait mas maganda. I haven’t met her family yet,” said Matteo whose last girlfriend was Maja Salvador, which ended six months ago. Jessy backed up Matteo’s answer and pointed out, “The best things are worth waiting for.”
