Gabby Concepcion says he will have a short but significant stint in the upcoming teleserye 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.'
After the recently-concluded teleserye Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,
Gabby Concepcion revealed that he was offered by Deo Endrinal, the head of the Entertainment Television unit of ABS-CBN Dreamscape, to make a guest appearance in the upcoming teleserye Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,
starring Gerald Anderson and Dawn Zulueta.
“Nung tinanong ako ni Deo kung gusto kong mag-guest dun sa teleserye ni Dawn at ni Gerald, sabi ko… ‘Yeah, sure,’” shared the ‘80s matinee idol at the press conference of his latest movie under Star Cinema, A Moment In Time. The movie featuring Coco Martin and Julia Montes and will open in cinemas this February 13.
Gabby further added that Deo advised him that the role will be short, but will be very significant. The actor expressed his excitement to work again with Dawn and Gerald. He had worked with Dawn before in movies and had the chance to act alongside Gerald in the teleserye Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo in 2010.
Gabby said that the timing of the offer is just perfect because he can keep himself busy while waiting for his movie with Maricel Soriano and Vice Ganda. “Sandali lang ako do’n [sa teleserye]—one or two months—balita ko meron daw kaming gagawin, so tama ‘yon; one or two months [after], meron akong gagawing pelikula [under] Star Cinema at Viva.
“Nagpapasalamat nga ako kay Deo na sinama pa niya ako,” said Gabby.
Having been in the industry for many years, Gabby said that showbiz is a lot better today than during his time. He said that the current generation is competitive, so the materials, equipment, and the actors also have to be better. Gabby said that the TV and movie projects today go through a lot of checking and revisions if and when necessary to make sure that the quality is not compromised.
He continued that actors today are more involved when it comes to the production process, and cited his film co-star Coco for instance. “[Ang] young actors [mas] nagiging involved katulad ni Coco, [at] marami sa ABS-CBN [ang] nagiging involved,” related Gabby. “Nung araw di masyado. Ngayon tougher, kailangan ang input [at] di lang katawan at mukha.”
