As she launched her fifth album called Metamorphosis, Yeng Constantino also revealed a new chapter in her personal and professional life. “It’s about not being afraid of who you can be. That best describes my new album that carries my new sound,” she said.
Yeng also showed off her new brightly colored hair at the Metamorphosis album launch held last February 20 at Insomnia Bar in Quezon City. “The red hair is not just part of the album, it’s a part of who I am now in this season in my life. I can say my hair color represents my passion for music now which is flaming hot,” she added.
The talented singer-songwriter who wrote almost all of the songs in her new 10-track album shares why she enjoyed working on Metamorphosis. “Lahat dito favorite songs ko kasi lahat gawa ko, mahirap pumili ng isa kasi parang anak ko silang lahat eh. Pero one thing na alam ko, sobrang pinaghirapan ko talaga bawat track and it’s really a transformation for me and sobrang gusto kong makita ng mga tao ang mga nangyayari sa akin as a musician and I want to thank everyone na bumili ng album ko dahil nag-number two kaagad ito sa best-selling album sa Odyssey,” she revealed.
Yeng said the album’s title is very timely because she feels she is also in a new phase in her life right now. “Ang dami ng pagbabago tulad ng pilosopiya ko sa buhay. Ang dami kong natutunan last year na siguro comes with age din, yung pagiging responsible and not being afraid of exploring and experimenting para you will not live with regrets. Gusto mo pag nag-look back ka sasabihin mo na uy grabe ginawa ko yun,” she explained.
Just like the album’s carrier single “B.A.B.A.Y.,” Yeng said she has already said goodbye to the old Yeng. “The song showcases almost everything that’s new about me now, the new sound, new songwriting, and a new chapter in my life. For sure the listeners and those who will watch the music video will enjoy ‘B.A.B.A.Y.’ because it will make them dance to its upbeat sound,” she said.
Even with a hip new sound, Yeng admitted she did have her initial reservations about unveiling her new sound, mainly because she did not know whether her fans would accept her new image. “At first I was worried if my supporters were ready for this change, but I thought it’s also because I’m giving them something new. And personally I wanted to challenge myself to do things that will excite me,” she admitted.
On February 28, the 24-year-old Star Magic talent is set to perform in Singapore as a special guest of the Academy of Rock. “It is a music school based in Europe with a branch in Singapore and the Philippines and isa ako sa napili nilang mag-perform para sa school nila. Tinuturo nila yung kanata kong original na ‘Salamat’ sa mga curriculum nila. Sobrang nakaka-proud lang na isa ako sa mga nagustuhan nila na mag-perform,” she admitted.
