Arjo Atayde dreams of working with John Lloyd Cruz

<div><img src='' alt='120813-Aljon-main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>After bagging the Best Drama Supporting Actor trophy for his exceptional performance in <i>Dugong Buhay</i> at the recently-concluded 27th PMPC Star Awards, budding actor Arjo Atayde has set his sights to specialize in drama acting.</div><div><br/></div><div>Arjo who tied with Arron Villaflor for Juan dela Cruz for the award, was still in disbelief upon besting in the said category drama bigwigs like Carlo Aquino, Pen Medina, Roi Vinzon, Ronaldo Valdez, and Tirso Cruz III.</div><div><br/></div><div>Although it was already his second Star Awards nod, the first was in 2012 as Best Male New TV Personality for Maalaala Mo Kaya: Bangka, he remained grateful of this new blessing.</div><div><br/></div><div>The 23-year-old actor was catapulted to stardom for his menacing portrayal of Rafael de Lara in the afternoon soap opposite Ejay Falcon.</div><div><br/></div><div>The eldest son of accomplished actress Sylvia Sanchez in previous reports has already noted that he had always wanted to be part of the industry and like his mother, he wanted to be as versatile an actor as possible. “Actually anything eh, I just want to be as versatile as possible. I want to keep learning and learning. I want to explore because<i> hindi lahat ng</i> roles<i> nagawa ko na</i>. I want to do different roles to know where I’m good at and to know where I’m confident in,” he said during an exclusive interview with <a href='http://www.Push.com.ph'>Push.com.ph</a> at the cast party of Call Center Girl.</div><div><br/></div><div>But if it were up to him, he hopes to hone his acting in drama “that’s why <i>siguro lagi kong pinapa</i>-practice<i> ‘yung drama.”</i></div><div><br/></div><div>Does he have a dream role? “To be a brother of John Lloyd Cruz in a hardcore drama,” he supplied. According to him, John Lloyd is the best drama actor of his generation with the kind of “<i>tagos na pag-arte</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Apart from Lloydie (John Lloyd’s nickname), Arjo said it would also be a privilege to work with the likes of Ronnie Lazaro, Carlo Aquino, Sid Lucero, Anita Linda, Susan Roces, and Cherie Gil.</div><div><br/></div><div>Since most of those he mentioned have thrived both in the mainstream and independent scene, does he see himself crossing over too? “Actually <i>na</i>-offer-<i>an na pero</i> I’ll leave it to Star Magic <i>kung kukunin o hindi pero</i> if ever I’ll venture there<i>, di ba</i>, why not? It’s going to be a test for me,” he quipped.</div><div><br/></div><div>After doing action and drama on<i> Dugong Buhay</i>, Arjo is now working on a romantic-comedy project which according to him is “another [area] to explore… Let’s see if I can pull it off. <i>Papagaralan ko naman talaga ‘yung</i> character and I’ve been doing my assignments lately on what to do before the show starts. I guess<i> naman maco</i>-convince <i>ko naman kahit papano ‘yung mga tao</i>. Hopefully.”</div>
