Juris says she has no regrets after ten years in the music industry

120513-Juris_Main.jpgAfter reaching her tenth year anniversary in the music industry this year, Juris said she has no regrets with choosing music over pursuing a medical degree after college. I feel blessed and happy and inspired na gusto ko pang tumagal pa sa industriyang ito,” she said.

The 35-year-old ASAP mainstay almost couldn’t believe she has lasted a decade in showbiz. So tingnan natin sana may masundan na plano,” she said.

Juris said she never expected to make a career out of something she was not interested in when she was younger. Tapos after college nag-aral pa ako ulit kasi mag-me-medicine pa ako. Naimbita lang ako mag-audition sa isang band. So nag-audition ako for experience. I was just going with the flow since I was still studying. Kumakanta ako once a week with them hanggang sa naging halos everyday na. Ine-enjoy ko lang yung pagkanta,” she said.

Juris said that deciding to focus on singing was one of the biggest decisions of her life. “Iyak nga ako ng iyak nun nung nag-decide ako kumanta kasi takot ako eh. Takot ako sa tao, umiiyak ako na hindi ko alam how to mingle with people,” she recalled.

Although she is one of the lucky few who have proven their staying power in showbiz, Juris said she is well aware how fleeting fame can be. Basta right now I’m just happy na marami pa akong opportunities na dumarating, yun lang,” she said.

One of the most fulfilling parts of her job as a singer is to be able to bring joy to Pinoy OFWs abroad when she has gigs. “Masaya rin talaga na kumanta ka sa ibang bansa kasi mas ramdam mo na na-miss nila yung Pilipinas so ang sarap din ng pakiramdam na because you are there feeling nila nasa fiesta sila and they get to reminisce their memories in the Philippines. Masarap yun,” she explained.
