Juris says she has no regrets after ten years in the music industry

<div><img src='' alt='120513-Juris_Main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>After reaching her tenth year anniversary in the music industry this year, Juris said she has no regrets with choosing music over pursuing a medical degree after college.<i> “Ah hindi na, hindi. Sandali rin lang naman yung tanong kung tama ba yung desisyon ko. Siguro kasi mas matimbang naman yung nakikita mo yung magulang mo Masaya habang kumakanta ka</i>. I feel blessed and happy and inspired <i>na gusto ko pang tumagal pa sa industriyang ito,</i>” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The 35-year-old <i>ASAP</i> mainstay almost couldn’t believe she has lasted a decade in showbiz. “<i>Ang tagal ko na pala. Kulang pa ito kasi sobra sobra yung supportang binigay nila sa akin.</i> Hopefully<i> may magawa kami na</i> plans<i> kasi hindi ko na na-</i>realize<i> na</i> ten years<i> na pala kasi kaka-</i>solo <i>ko pa lang</i> feeling <i>ko bago na ulit. </i>So<i> tingnan natin sana may masundan na plano,” she said.</i></div><div><br/></div><div>Juris said she never expected to make a career out of something she was not interested in when she was younger. <i>“Nung</i> grade two <i>ako hindi ako mahilig kumanta sa totoo lang. Pinipilit ako ng nanay ko kumanta tapos umiiyak ako kasi ayoko. Maraming salamat sa mga</i> teachers<i> ko kasi takot ako sa kanila </i>so <i>pag sinabi nila na kailangan kumanta ako, hindi na ako makatanggi. Hanggang</i> college <i>ganyan lang yung ginagawa ko. Hindi ko naisip na magiging trabaho ko siya. Puro aral lang yung iniisip ko nun. Tapos </i>after college<i> nag-aral pa ako ulit kasi mag-me-</i>medicine <i>pa ako. Naimbita lang ako mag-</i>audition <i>sa isang</i> band. So<i> nag</i>-audition <i>ako</i> for experience. <i>Sobrang wala akong</i> idea <i>na yung</i> audition <i>nasa </i>bar <i>at naka</i>-uniform <i>pa ako</i> (laughs). <i>Wala akong alam sa pagbabanda at sa </i>music industry<i> kasi hindi rin ako gumi-gimik. Dun na nagsimula</i>. I was just going with the flow since I was still studying.<i> Kumakanta ako </i>once a week with them <i>hanggang sa naging</i> <i>halos</i> everyday <i>na. Ine</i>-enjoy <i>ko lang yung pagkanta,”</i> she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Juris said that deciding to focus on singing was one of the biggest decisions of her life.<i> “Iyak nga ako ng iyak nun nung nag</i>-decide <i>ako kumanta kasi takot ako eh. Takot ako sa tao, umiiyak ako na hindi ko alam </i>how to mingle with people,” she recalled.</div><div><br/></div><div>Although she is one of the lucky few who have proven their staying power in showbiz, Juris said she is well aware how fleeting fame can be. <i>“Nagkaka-edad ka ng hindi mo alam pero hindi rin natin alam</i> so hopefully i<i>sa ako dun sa mga magtatagal pero hindi ko rin naman siya iniisip rin. Basta</i> right now I’m just happy<i> na marami pa akong</i> opportunities <i>na dumarating, yun lang</i>,” she said.</div><div> </div><div>One of the most fulfilling parts of her job as a singer is to be able to bring joy to Pinoy OFWs abroad when she has gigs. <i>“Masaya rin talaga na kumanta ka sa ibang bansa kasi mas ramdam mo na na</i>-miss<i> nila yung Pilipinas </i>so <i>ang sarap din ng pakiramdam na </i>because you are there feeling <i>nila nasa </i>fiesta <i>sila</i> and they get to reminisce their memories in the Philippines. <i>Masarap yun,</i>” she explained.</div><div><br/></div><div><i>Dreaming of You</i> under Star Records is now available in record bars nationwide for only P350.
