Bea Rose Santiago responds to bashers

122413-Bea-Rose_Main.jpgNewly-crowned Ms. International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago was warmly welcomed when she came back to the Philippines last Saturday, December 21. Among the people who congratulated her were Pinay International beauties Ms. Universe 2013 third runner up Ara Arida, Ms. International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, and the very first Ms. International and Chairperson of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Stella Marquez-Araneta.

Bea did her rounds of TV appearances in the morning, followed by a courtesy call in the afternoon at the Malacanang palace where she took another selfie with President Noynoy Aquino. Many dubbed this as Bea’s lucky charm because she took a selfie with the President at the Asean Summit in Tokyo, Japan before the coronation.

Warm welcome aside, Bea has been plagued with the allegations that hers was a sympathy win in the wake of super typhoon Yolanda that hit the country.  “They’re saying sympathy win daw and stuff and I talked to the chaperone and she said No, you know what, you have ten points higher than the next one in line. It’s not just sympathy vote.”

Bea Rose added, “The judges were coming up to me and saying you were our favorite even before the speech.”

Bea also stressed that her message to the world that night came from the heart. “I can’t make everyone believe me of course. My tears when I saw and interviewed some of the Yolanda victims. It’s not fake.”
