Jessy Mendiola shares her thoughts about the year that made her one of the biggest stars of her generation.
2013 turned Jessy Mendiola into one of the brightest stars of her generation and the actress can’t help but be overwhelmed. She’s even being tagged as the ‘It Girl’ of 2013. In an exclusive interview with Jessy during a set visit to Maria Mercedes, the actress remarked that everything feels really surreal at the moment.
“Hindi ako makapaniwala talaga, overwhelming din, kahit papaano very flattering eh kasi talagang ang laking bansag ng ‘It Girl’ ng 2013. Masaya po ako na malakas na malakas ‘yung pagtanggap ng tao sa Maria Mercedes at sa mga nangyari sa akin ngayong taon. I must admit parang hindi siya palaging happy ‘yung moments ko this year, meron ding mga low moments, but overall it's a very worthy year sobrang ito ‘yung year na hindi ko malilimutan,” she said.
Some people consider her rise to stardom to be almost instant, but Jessy said that it was pure hard work that brought her to where she is now. “Well sabi nga nila biglaan lahat but for me it wasn’t kasi I’ve been in the industry for seven years. I started when I was 14 so maybe when that time ako sumikat baka pwede pang sabihing mabilis but no eh it was a journey, nagkataon lang na ngayon ako napansin, with the right project and the right timing. I could say I worked hard where I am right now, all those waiting moments it's all worth it.”
On the “normal” things she misses now that there are limitations since she’s already very popular, Jessy relayed, “I couldn’t walk straight anymore sa mall. I kind of miss wearing jeans and “chucks” sa mall but as they say as you grow as an artist comes fame and stardom, bakit ito din naman ‘yung pinaghirapan natin di ba? Ito din naman ‘yung gusto nating makamit sa career natin na 'to. Yes I miss it but I am enjoying what I have right now and I am willing to learn more and experience more.”
For Jessy, everything fell right into place this year and she’s thankful to all who supported her throughout her journey. “Career wise I could say na I think Maria Mercedes helped me a lot even the management, the people around me, they support me so much and that's enough for me. Okay nong Paraiso days but now it's even better when you feel the support of the people around you and I could say this is the right time for me.”
