Director Frasco Mortiz says 'Pagpag' will show a different side of Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernar

121213-Frasco_Main.jpgAs a first time director for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Frasco Mortiz admitted he is not out to top the competition with his first horror flick Pagpag. His Kathniel (Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo) starrer is up against other box-office heavyweights like Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy and My Little Bossing.

“Naku, medyo careful kami sa ganyan. Sina Vice Ganda at Vic Sotto kasi may right sila mag-brag dahil may track record na sila. Eh kami first time ko sa film fest tapos first time ng Kathniel so ang aim naming mapasok lang kami sa top three. Basta mag-earn lang ng maganda yung pelikula at magustuhan ng tao, happy na kami dun. Kumbaga wala kaming iniisip na dapat kami yung mag-number one or top-grosser, wala naman kaming ganung hinahangad basta pasok lang kami sa tatlong favorite films nila for the year tapos magustuhan ng tao, happy na kami doon,” he said.

For the fans of the Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo love team from Growing Up to Got to Believe, Direk Mortiz said their movie will not disappoint in showing a different side to the two teens. “Dito yung love team nila linagay mo sa sitwasyon na horror so baka yung dynamic nung dalawa na hindi sila nagpapakilig pero kinakabahan yung fans for their safety, baka yun yung feeling kong ibang makikita nila kasi may mga parts na siyempre magkakahiwalay yung dalawa. Yung suspense part na linagay naming itong sikat na love team sa isang sitwasyon na hindi romantic pero horror so yun ang dapat nilang abangan,” he explained.

Despite Pagpag being promoted as a horror movie, the talented director said the film will still have it's trademark Kathniel “kilig” moments which their fans can always expect from the reel-and-real life lovebirds. “Ganun pa rin naman, ang Pagpag naman may mga moments na medyo funny, may moments na siyempre na pag si Daniel at Kath may kilig ng konti. Hindi lang siya pronounced na pronounced kasi yung sitwasyon hindi siya written as a romantic scene. Like yung scene na nag-meet sila for the first time, yung circumstance niya hindi maganda. Kumbaga ang sitwasyon nila pareho may kababalaghang nangyayari sa kanilang dalawa, hindi nila maintindiihan kung bakit so they have to team up to solve the problem. So parang naging ganun yung dynamic nung love team nila dito. Nung una ayaw na ayaw ni Kath si DJ dito pero eventually they have to stay together and solve the problem, ganun,” he said.
