Jessy Mendiola says she would rather work harder than consider illicit deals.
After several visits to South Korea, Jessy Mendiola said she has learned a lot from immersing herself in another culture, especially after being named honorary ambassador for the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO).
“I love art and it's very artsy there. There's this one palace called The Secret Garden
where the kings take their rest or where they read. Dun sila nag-ha
-hang out and nagkakaroon ng
romantic dates (laughs). I think it's a good thing that they're preserving their culture kasi pagpunta ko dun sa
palace nandun pa lahat,
it's preserved yung
lights, paintings, hallways and bawat
intricate detail ng
palace nila nandun. Hindi
three times to go there. I still feel like it's not enough so I think I have to visit again soon,” she explained.
Jessy said she thinks Pinoys can take a cue from the Korean people. “They preserve their culture and I think we should also do the same. Culture is very important in a country or in people. Sa kanila being modern, they have a lot of technology like their medicines, they're very high tech. But for me ang natutunan ko while you are moving forward to be modern and high-tech, you also have to preserve your history and I think that’s a very good quality. I think maganda yun to meet halfway yung history and yung ngayon so sana we can also do the same,” she said.
The 21-year-old actress said she would even consider working there some day. “Why not? So gusto din madala na ako isa akong Pilipino at nagtratrabaho ako sa ibang bansa, not only will I be promoting Korean tourism, I can also say na dinadala ko rin ang pangalan ng Pilipinas so I am killing two birds with one stone,” she added.
The Maria Mercedes star said her new appointment will not distract her from her showbiz duties. Jessy said she does not want to assume anything at this point. “For me, let's answer that when we cross the bridge [when we get there] kasi sa ngayon wala pa namang offers. Sa ngayon, nagsisimula pa lang naman ako dito but why not? It's a new opportunity kapag sa ibang bansa ka nagtrabaho. Pero if ever why not, we'll see kapag nangyari yun,” she said.
As one of the prized talents in the Kapamilya network, Jessy said she is not taking for granted how blessed she has been with the slew of projects she has received this year. Pero for me, paborito ko ang work ko kaya ginagawa ko ito,” she said.
After almost a decade of being in showbiz, Jessy admitted she has had her share of indecent proposals. The talented actress said she would rather concentrate on working hard than to consider those kinds of deals. “Nasagot ko na yan before eh. Siyempre meron.
