Daniel Padilla expressed his appreciation for the support that he has been receiving from fans and for the trust that has been given by management for his team-up with Kathryn Bernardo. Aside from his primetime teleserye Got To Believe, the young actor is set to star with Kathryn in a Metro Manila Film Festival horror film titled Pagpag. “Happy ako and thankful dahil marami ang naniniwala sa amin at siyempre papalitan namin ang tiwalang ‘yun, gagalingan namin sa aming mga projects,” he stated in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph during a set visit for his new movie.
It will be the first time that the “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” singer will headline a horror flick and he’s very ecstatic about it. “Gagawin namin ang lahat para mas mapaganda pa ‘yung mga shows namin at mas marami pang tao ang mapasaya,” he said.
Daniel relayed that his new film is very different from his previous movies with Kath. “Ma-aksyon kami, medyo maaksyon kami ni Kathryn dito eh. Hindi naman sobrang maaksyon, sakto lang,” he said.
Does he personally believe in “pag-papagpag” whenever he’s visiting a wake? “Oo kasi wala namang mawawala kung maniniwala ka di ba? So maniwala ka na lang,” he remarked.
The film is a co-production of Star Cinema and Regal Films and is being directed by Frasco Mortiz. According to the director, Pagpag will restore the teen-horror genre. “For the longest time ngayon lang gumawa ang Star Cinema ng teen-barkada movie ulit na medyo may horror, may kilig na napunta sa isang lugar na parang may nanakot sa kanila,” he said.
He said that the fans are in for a treat as Pagpag will star the biggest teen actors of this generation. Aside from DJ and Kath, the movie will also feature young stars like Miles Ocampo, CJ Navato, Dominic Roque, and Michelle Vito. “Ngayon lang nila makikita ang ganitong klaseng pelikula na ‘yung mga hottest teen stars natin ngayon na magkakasama sa isang pelikula. Tapos may mag mananakot, may suspense, may kaunting comedy, tapos siyempre may kilig between Kathryn and Daniel, tapos nag-iisa pa siyang horror movie so feeling ko dapat hindi nila ma-miss,” the director stated.
