Paulo Avelino finally opens up about three-year-old son Ethan

<div><img src='' alt='110713-Paolo_Main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>In his first father role, Paulo Avelino admitted he and new child star Raikko Mateo (who plays the title role) are getting along well on the set of their new Primetime Bida show, <i>Honesto</i>. “So far we get along well. <i>Medyo nahihiya pa siya sa akin pero</i> I’m sure<i> ma</i>-<i>be</i>-break<i> yung</i> barrier <i>na yun</i> as we go on with the soap. Excited <i>na rin ako</i> actually <i>maka-eksena siya</i>,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Because of the show, Paulo has decided to open up more about his three-year-old son Ethan with LJ Reyes. <i>“Sa akin naman kasi, hindi rin naman maganda kung yung</i> show <i>mo </i>is about honesty. Well I never lied about it. <i>Hindi ko lang talaga gustong pag-usapan pero bilang pambata at gusto ma</i>-target<i> lahat ng</i> age <i>dito lalong lalo na yung mga bata, isa sa pinaka</i>-<i>importante na trait din na dapat matutunan ng bata ang ipapakita namin dito</i> so <i>ako gusto ko rin naman na makita rin ako ng bata na may natututunan siyang asal sa </i>TV, <i>hindi puro</i> bad roles (laughs),” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Paulo is hopeful that his experience as a real-life dad will benefit him in the show. <i>“Sana, sana. Pero</i> knowing Raikko and how he is <i>mukhang hindi naman</i>,” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The 25-year-old actor said his role is one that undergoes a transformation throughout th series. <i>“Ako dito si</i> Diego Layer,<i> anak ako ni </i>Tito Joel Torre<i> at </i>Angel Aquino <i>dito sa </i>show <i>at kapatid ko na naman si</i> Melissa Ricks. <i>Kumbaga dahil sa kahirapan, lumaki si</i> Diego<i> na nakasanayan kung anong nangyayari sa pamilya nila, lumaki sa kasinungalingan, sa pagnanakaw at dahil sa isang babae, gusto na niya talikuran lahat para sa isang matuwid na buhay</i>,” he explained.</div><div><br/></div><div>With honesty being the main value being espoused in the show, Paulo admitted he once had to hide the truth from the public. “<i>Nagsinungaling </i>at one point <i>para maprotektuhan yung mga taong minamahal mo,</i>” he added.</div><div><br/></div><div>The<i> Honesto</i> actor said that it is also not true he turned down a teleserye project because he did not want to work with Angel Locsin. Paulo admitted to having personal problems at the time and is now focusing on his relationship with his son. “At that time <i>siguro napagod din </i>and at that time<i> marami ring problema</i> and<i> dire-diretso rin ako nung</i> time <i>na yun</i> so<i> na</i>-burn out <i>rin </i>so <i>parang hiniling ko na lang muna na magpahinga nung</i> time<i> na yun. Hindi naman dahil ayokong makatrabaho si</i> Angel or<i> ayoko gumawa ng</i> soap<i> pero </i>at that time<i> talaga kumbaga pagod rin siguro</i> and <i>dala na rin ng ibang mga personal na</i> <i>problema. At kaya ko rin tinanggap ang Honesto kasi </i>there’s a bigger picture to it,<i> hindi kailangan porke’t </i>daddy <i>ako. Siguro</i> it’s about time that I show something to people, to kids, the country that I also have a boy, a son para may<i> napapanuod siya at natututunan sa mga ginagawa ko,</i>” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>After being part of <i>Walang Hanggan</i>, Paulo admitted that he feels pressure to do even better in <i>Honesto</i>. <i>“May</i> pressure<i> pero para sa akin</i>, more than the pressure I’m really excited to portray a different character, something new. As a dad for a little boy and <i>kumbaga yung</i> journey<i> nun mas lalo akong na-e</i>-excite <i>kung anong mangyayari kung paano naming maipapakita sa mga kababayan natin kung gaano ka</i>-importante<i> ang katapatan,</i>” he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Watch Paulo Avelino in<i> Honesto</i> weekdays after <i>TV Patrol</i> on ABS-CBN.
