Mariel Rodriguez talks about going organic and travelling with Robin Padilla

110713-Mariel_Main.jpgBoy Abunda, host of Ikaw Na on Bandila, welcomed Mariel Rodriguez back to what had been her home for the longest time, ABS-CBN. Boy asked her if she was coming back to ABS-CBN and she said, “I would love to. I don’t know yet right now.”

Before Boy could ask her anything though, the always-vivacious Mariel proclaimed, “But so many things have changed Tito Boy, I’m a farmer now!”  She shared that she’s into everything organic and that she “tagged” herself “organic-a-holic.” “I really love organic everything. Nagtatanim ako ng sarili kong gulay but I only have like a tiny backyard. So far dun pa lang sa mga paso-paso pero okay lang.

The bubbly host then shared the effects of going organic, “Tito Boy, I feel like I have glowing skin. I feel like I’m happy, my hair is better, I sleep better. I’ve been constipated all my life, now I go regularly. I’m so happy, we’re very happy. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why we don’t want to have children.” She quickly clarified her statement with,  “right now” and followed it with, “because I want to be able to get up and leave like [if] you’re going to go to the States, you’re just going to go.”

Mariel also talked animatedly about travelling with her husband Robin Padilla. “The last one, he took me to Venice kasi lulubog na daw and then Amsterdam. I want to live in Amsterdam Tito Boy, ang daming organic!”

She also said of travelling, “Exactly that’s the real life, I’m now living the real life!”

Boy asked her what it does to their relationship every time Robin and she travel and she replied with, “Robin is this really big star that we cannot really go around here in the Philippines kasi dun we’re normal people Tito Boy. Naglalakad kami sa kalye, ang saya namin, we’re not doing anything just walking.” And as they walked, Mariel recounted, they would just marvel at the place and they would talk about everything and Robin would say things like, “Sayang, sana sa Pilipinas ganito.. Sa Pilipinas, kaya natin ang ganito..”

Mariel and Robin have been together for more than three years and aside from being her longest relationship she said, happily and in a sing-song voice, that it’s going to last “forever.”

Career-wise, Mariel seems to have matured. “I’m a host, Tito Boy. Before, I had this illusion I was going to be this fabulous actress, but now I know what I can do.”
