Markki Stroem plays his first gay role in Cinema One Originals' 'Slumber Party'

112113-Markki_Main.jpgAs the closing film for this year's Cinema One Originals Film Festival, Slumber Party was a fitting finale for the 2013 batch of quality indie movies from Cinema One. The comedy revolves around three gay friends who decide to do an impromptu sleepover while waiting to watch the Miss Universe pageant the following morning. Close friends Jana, Elmer, and Philip (played by Archie Alemania, Markki Stroem, and RK Bagatsing) thought they were in for a quiet night at home when they catch an intruder named Jonel trying to enter the house. The three decide to teach the 18 year-old a lesson by keeping him hostage overnight and what ensues next is a series of events even they could not imagine.

Markki, who got several nominations for his role as the sensitive Elle (short for "Elmer") says he will never forget his first movie project which he shot last year and which will finally be screened in theaters starting November 27. Archie Alemania's character Jana provided most of the comic relief as the sex-driven friend who lusts after their unwilling guest for the night. Another highlight of the movie is the appearance of former child actor-turned-businessman Niño Muhlach who was a definite scene-stealer as another colorful character in the film.

Niño admitted it was definitely a different kind of experience for him to do Slumber Party. "First time ko gumanap ng gay role. Ang panget ko pala na gay! (laughs)" he shared during the Cinema One Originals Film Festival closing night held last November 19 at the Glorietta 4 cinemas in Makati City.

Slumber Party will be shown in theaters starting November 27. For more Kapamilya updates log on daily to Push.abs-cbn.com and follow Push_Mina on Twitter.
