Ending weeks of speculation, Cristine Reyes has finally opened up to the real reason behind her split with ex-boyfriend Derek Ramsay. Contrary to rumors, it wasn't caused by Ynna Asistio, her ex-boyfriends Dennis Trillo and Rayver Cruz nor the nameless gym buff that's being linked to her off late.
“I think hindi pa siguro ako ready. Gusto ko siya, gusto ko si Derek, but parang hindi ako 'yung normal, hindi ako mapalagay kapag sa kanya," confessed the Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin actress during a live appearance on Buzz ng Bayan on Sunday,
Cristine explained that she ironically became more less like herself and reclusive next to Derek when they took everything to the next level from being friends last August 28.
“Kasi nung boyfriend ko siya, kasi alam niyo naman ako loka-loka ako and mapagbiro. Parang puwede ko pa rin ba gawin sa kanya yon? Parang hindi na kasi baka mamaya sermonan niya ako. Pero kapag magkaibigan kami, nasasabi ko sa kanya lahat siya rin ganon,” she explained.
Apart from that, Cristine also candidly confessed that her failed romances in the past has led her to become more guarded with the hunk actor.
"So nung kami ni Derek hindi pa nagsi-sink in sakin na kami. Alam niyo naman po ako, loka-loka ako kapag na-i-in love ako... Talagang guarded ako sakanya dahil alam ko 'yung sarili ko na kapag ako na-in love all out and kapag binigay ko lahat dito, ayoko ng mangyari 'yung katulad nung dati na sobrang sakit na nawala 'yung guy," said she.
But being guarded has not made the breakup any easier, "Nag-usap po kami ng personal. Merong iyakan, may ilang days na wala ako sa sarili." There were even times that she never felt like talking to Derek and that being alone has been her solace.
Did she have any regrets about their short-lived romance?
“Hindi ako masyadong um-effort so 'yun ang medyo nagsisisi ako. Si Derek kasi sobra sa akin," said the When the Love is Gone star.
Despite all the controversies that hounded their separation, Cristine underscored that she and Derek remain to be best friends even until this day.
