Musician Abra revealed thatv will be collaborating with various artists for his various projects in the coming months. “Sobrang excited kasi ako excited na akong ilabas ‘yung mga kanta at collab ko. At the same time excited ako sa mga parating na collab para maging mas makulay pa ‘yung music industry kasi pag rap, x-factor siya ng music industry eh.”
He also shared that he is set to release his first solo album. “Malapit na akong mag-release ng solo album ko at siyempre lalabas na rin ang single from that album. After ng ‘Gayuma’ sunod naman na maririnig niyo ay ‘Diwata.’”
The 24-year old musician, who revealed that he’s taking inspiration from almost anything when it comes to writing music, is a big fan of Eminem, Gloc-9, and Francis M. Now that the fan base for hip-hop music in the country is growing, Abra couldn’t be happier.
When asked as to what have caused this increasing popularity, Abra said that Fliptop and Sunugan, two popular online rap battle leagues, are the reasons behind this major frenzy. “Kasi dahil nagustuhan ng mga tao ‘yung Sunugan at Fliptop, from there nag-evolve sila, nagustuhan nila ‘yung mga artists na nag-perform don. Dahil don nagkahawaan lalo na dito sa Pilipinas kasi dito puro computer shop at internet cafe, grabe kung maka-viral ‘yung hip-hop at rap so ngayon ‘yung rap x-factor na siya ng OPM eh kasi pwede mo siyang ilatag at babagay siya depende sa artist,” he said.
Abra was spotted during the grand fan’s day of the now defunct hit serye Juan dela Cruz. He performed his track from the show’s official album during the event. A fan himself of the soap, he relayed that he feels honored to be part of the teleserye’s album. “Isang malaking karangalan na mapasama ako kasi siyempre ako mismo nagustuhan ko ‘yung pagkagawa sa Juan dela Cruz from the concept to the story. Pati sa cinematography at sa quality ng paggawa. Nakakatuwa na sumoporta sa ganon klaseng teleserye na nag-upgrade sa standards.”
