Kapamilya stars extend help to Visayas quake victims

102313-kapamilya_Main.jpgHelp from different factions, organizations, and individuals continue to pour in the Visayas region a week after it was devastated by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

Among those who rallied to help are some Kapamilya stars who especially went out of their ways to reach out to the victims in Bohol and Cebu in particular where the death toll and recorded damages were considered to be highest.

Among them was Cebuano actor Enrique Gil who personally came to his hometown the other day to offer help to his kababayans.

“I did something yesterday. After that bumisita ako sa isang hospital na nag-collpase na so lahat ng patients in-evacuate so sa tapat no’n may fire station doon sila nilagay sa gym. So dumaan ako nag-‘hi’ ako at nagbigay ako ng pagkain,” shared Enrique during the press conference of his upcoming dance concert “King of the Gil” held at Sir Boy’s Food Republique on Tuesday.

According to him, the Cebuanos were shocked by his presence, “Nag-‘hi’ lang ako tapos umalis rin ako kaagad.”

Enrique even related that he even experienced a few aftershocks himself during his visit.
“Actually kahapon galing kami sa Cebu may mga aftershocks kaming naramdaman sa restaurant pati sa airport. Nanginginig ‘yung lupa pero okay naman,” he shared thankfully even adding that none of his loved ones in Cebu were affected by the quake.

The “She’s The One” actor believes that this tragedy would never dampen the spirits of Cebuanos because “[Ang] mga Cebuanos mga fighters ang mga ‘yan, kahit anong mangyari naka-smile parin ang mga ‘yan. So guys, smile lang kayo, kayang kaya natin ‘yan.”
He even added that, should there be an opportunity, he would gladly accept offers to perform in a charity concert for the Visayas victims.

Meanwhile, on the Monday episode of her show “Kris TV” Queen of All Media Kris Aquino personally handed her donations for the quake victims to the Philippine Red Cross' headquarters in Manila.

"Kailangan mong iparamdam that there are people who care. Hindi 'yung kumportable ka, kumportable 'yung mga anak mo, [tapos] okay na. Importante talaga na mayroon kang malasakit for everyone kasi you don't know the time will come na ikaw naman 'yung nagsa-suffer and how would you feel if nobody cared," said Kris.

According to Kris, her guest co-host for that episode, “She’s The One” actress Bea Alonzo as well as Cebuana actress Kim Chiu are also handing over help to the kababayans affected by the disaster.

"Kim and I were talking last night and she said, 'Ate kung ikaw toka ninyo ni Bea ngayon ang Red Cross, toka ko 'yung sa simbahan," Kris quoted Kim as saying.

Apart from Enrique, Kris, Kim and Bea, Boholano actor Cesar Montano was also among those who readily thought of helping those in Visayas by mounting a mini benefit concert.

The concert, which is set to happen on October 25 at Teatrino in Greenhills, will feature performances from singer-composer Noel Cabangon, South Border’s former vocalist Luke Mijares, and comedians Bayani Agbayani, Jeffrey Tam, and Long Mejia, among others.

While actress-model Bianca Manalo shared that she, along with her family, are taking part in a religious organization's relief operation.

"Kami ng family ko, active kami sa Couples For Christ. Nagsimula na kami mag-ipon ng goodies tulad ng food, delata, bigas, and pinaka-importante, prayers," she said in a previous abs-cbnNews.com report.
