As one of the new hosts of the second season of ABS-CBN's realiserye I Dare You, John Prats said that their show is a different kind of reality show that will showcase the triumph of a true Bida Kapamilya along with different guest “Celebrity Kakampi.”
In their premiere episode Sagip which airs this Saturday, October 12 taking over the timeslot of The Voice of the Philippines, John joins Jewel Mische as they undergo military training in order to help the submerged community of Masantol in Pampanga. “Baka akala nila this I Dare You season two is like a game show na mananalo sila, hindi siya ganun. It’s like helping the community na kung ano man yung mapag-tagumpayan, yun yung makakatulong sa tintutulungan nilang bidang kapamilya para mas makapagbigay pa siya ng tulong. Like sa akin, yung lugar na tinulungan namin is lumulubog yung Masantol kasi kahit konting ulan lubog agad. So ang tulong na ginawa namin dun, yung tinuruan nila yung mga barangay tanod kung ano gagawin, nagbigay kami ng mga life boats, kung ano yung makakatulong dun sa komunidad, hindi yung parang, ‘O eto yung one million bahala na kayo,” he shared during the I Dare You presscon held last October 7 inside ABS-CBN.
During the filming of his episode, John revealed it was the first time for him to throw up on-cam because of how hard the training was. “Pero masaya. It was really difficult the transition from a civilian to army, kailangan talagang hardcore. Ang sarap nung experience kasi two weeks kaming magkakasama so talagang naging close kami and na-attach ako sa mga taga-Masantol and I don’t think it will stop here, helping this community,” he admitted.
John also admired how tough Jewel was during their two-week immersion. “First time ko siyang nakilala dun and ang galing kasi pilot pala siya, may background pala siya ng pagpapalipad and siya talaga yung nagpapalipad nung helicopter,” he added.
Even though the show takes him out of the city for weeks at a time, the 29-year-old actor said his relationship with Isabel Oli is stronger then ever. “Siya naman alam niya na kaya ko and pag hindi ko naman kaya I’ll say it. Mas worried yung PA ko, siya yung umiiyak dun sa gilid. Ako kaya ko, siguro yung mga people around me, nung nakikita nila na nahihirapan ako they’re not really used to it. Mahirap kasi you have to balance it kasi this show is really a commitment. Hindi lang siya yung parang pupunta ka lang ng M-W-F. Sometimes our episodes take us to places for two weeks. Para kaming mga sundalo na nade-destino kung saan saan. Fulfilling and ang sarap kasi yun lang yung ginagawa mo, so nandun lang yung puso mo sa trabaho na yun. Sa atin kasi, kung mag-da-drama ka ngayon tapos bukas magko-comedy ka, bukas sasayaw ka sa ASAP, parang nakakabaliw. Dito mas focused kami,” he explained.
When it comes to taking the next step in their relationship, John admitted it is a topic they are both comfortable with discussing from time to time. “Well I said it before na di ba sa lahat naman ng girlfriend ko whenever they ask me kung siya na ba, sabi ko sana and that’s what I hope. This time I say yes, she’s the one. Yung engagement siyempre bawal pag-usapan yun siyempre dapat surprise but you know getting married yes we talk about it. That’s why I know she’s ready anytime that I ask her and siguro that’s what I want and that’s what I like about her kasi hindi siya kagaya ng ibang artista ngayon na mas focused sa career muna, maganda kasi sa kanya nakikita niya yung sarili niya na as a housewife. She is ready,” he said.
When asked if he plans to propose soon, John refused to divulge any specific details. “Secret! Baka ma-preempt yung proposal ko eh (laughs). But I want it to be really special for her. How far in the future? Not really long,” he admitted.
