Ryan Bang's legal counsel assures BIR that he has no intention of evading his tax obligations.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed tax evasion charges against Korean comedian/TV host Ryan Bang (a.k.a. Hyung Sung Bang) for his failure to register his income and VAT returns for 2010 and 2011.
Of his over three million pesos worth of earnings during the said period, he reportedly has a tax liability amounting to 1.82 million pesos including surcharge and interest. His income in 2010 totaled 993,451.59 pesos and 2.06 million pesos in 2011.
Ryan’s legal counsel Joji Alonzo stated, however, that he has yet to receive a formal complaint against him. But rest assured that he will deal with the matter as soon as he receives a copy of the summons from Department of Justice (DOJ).
The official statement from the actor’s lawyer is as follows: “We have yet to receive summons from the DOJ on the alleged tax evasion charges. Ryan Bang intends to comply with all obligations due the government, if any. He will never knowingly and deliberately violate any law in this country.”
