ABS-CBN confirms that Maricel Soriano is out of 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin' due to 'unfortunate incident' with co-star Gerald Anderson.
After much speculation, Head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Bong Osorio confirmed that Maricel Soriano will no longer be part of the network’s upcoming teleserye, Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin
, citing the “unfortunate incident” between the Diamond Star and Gerald Anderson for allegedly failing to establish rapport with each other on the first taping day of the soap. Maricel is supposed to play Gerald’s mom in the story.
Rumor has it that Maricel blew her top while doing a scene with Gerald, who was said to be having a hard time delivering his lines. Unverified reports further claimed that Maricel shouted at the young actor and walked out on the set. Gerald went after her but the veteran actress supposedly refused to hear whatever he wanted to say. Under the circumstances, the rumors even led other people to question whether or not the soap will still push through. But based on ABS-CBN’s official statement, the project will still proceed even without Maricel.
The official statement of ABS-CBN is as follows: “Due to the unfortunate incident between Gerald Anderson and Maricel Soriano that transpired on the first taping day of “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” the ABS-CBN management and the management of Maricel Soriano have agreed that Maricel will no longer be part of the cast. The teleserye starring Gerald Anderson will proceed as scheduled.”
As of press time, Dawn Zulueta is reportedly being eyed to replace Maricel in the said soap.
