Director Lino Cayetano says he's proud of Daniel Padilla's success in showbiz; encourages him to further improve his craft.
From the very start, director Lino Cayetano saw the potential in Daniel Padilla when they worked together in the teen series Growing Up
. At the time, Daniel’s only claim to fame was a short acting stint in Gimik 2010,
but direk Lino assured their creative unit that Daniel had the makings of the next big star. “Si
DJ (Daniel’s nickname) kakasimula pa lang makikita mo yung puso. Yung puso lumalabas sa mata bilang artista. Minsan mali yung
dialogue, sa simula meron pang
awkwardness, pero yung mata niya napaka-
expressive. So early on, I knew he's someone that, if he becomes dedicated, will be a successful actor one day,” he said in an interview with Push.com.ph
Direk Lino was happy to see though that Daniel has had his share of success—from his top-rating teleserye and movie appearances to his growing number of endorsements and future projects. “Hindi namin inimagine in one year ganito na siya kakilala at ganito karespetado. But knowing him, I know he will keep working harder. And kaya ako proud sa kanya e. He always challenges himself to do better.”
Similarly, Direk Lino is also proud of young stars Ella Cruz and Michelle Vito whom he closely worked with in the soap Aryana. “At such a young age, they’re really hardworking and they have respect for the craft, so I know they will go places.”
When asked how he feels about training young stars who become successful at what they do, Direk Lino admitted that it really gives him a sense of fulfillment. “That’s such an important part of being a director because I love working with young actors. Being able to share what I know, help develop them as actors, at the same time I get to learn from them as well. It’s always special kapag nakikita mong parang mga anak mo ‘yan e. When you see potential, when you see them work hard and you see them succeed, parang feeling mo nag-succeed ka na rin so I’m proud of all of them.”
Ever since he directed Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson’s first full-length film, Direk Lino said that he’s yet to work on his other dream movie projects.
