Here are some of the Star Magic artists who shared with <a href=''>Push.com.ph</a> why flying solo is a fun way to spend such a special occasion: Enrique Gil didn’t mind going solo even though most of his friends had a date. “First time ko ngang walang kasama. Kasama ko nung unang Star Magic ball si Kristel Moreno, second si Coleen Garcia, tapos si Kathryn Bernardo.” Coleen is his ex-girlfriend, who’s now in a relationship with Gab Valenciano. “Okay lang yun, friends naman kami lahat.” Enrique added that he vowed not to enter a commitment this year so he can concentrate on his showbiz career. Shaina Magdayao proved that she really has nothing to hide as she braved the Star Magic ball even though she could have bumped into ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz and his rumored current flame Angelica Panganiban. She certainly looked sexy and confident in her backless, figure-hugging Amir Sali gown. According to the star of Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo, it was her first time to bare a lot of skin. Shaina further shared that her friends would even tease her about looking better now that she’s single. Sam Milby avoided being besieged by intrigues by breezing through the red carpet right across the media’s holding area. People have been speculating about his rumored involvement with Maja Salvador for weeks now. While he repeatedly denied this issue, he still refused to be interviewed about it. The last time Sam went out on dates was when he was in New York, auditioning for various TV networks early this year. Maja Salvador seemed to thrive on being single as she confidently walked the red carpet sans any escort. “Oo naman, by choice na solo ako tonight. Pero ramdam ko pagkaganda ko,” she quipped. She and Matteo Guidicelli parted ways last July, the details of which they didn’t share with the local media. But it did not stop her from enjoying the Star Magic ball with her good friends Kim Chiu and Angelica Panganiban. Jake Cuenca showed up at the red carpet with ex-Pinoy Big Brother housemate Tin Patrimonio. Asked why they came together, “We have the same manager. I was planning to go solo, but yun na nga. I’m happy to be her escort for the night.” Jake went with Lovi Poe last year. The two were rumored to be an item since they worked on the film My Neighbor’s Wife. Jake has made no secret of his admiration of Lovi, but it seems he is still having a hard time convincing her to enter a serious relationship. Jessy Mendiola decided to go solo even though she could have been escorted by JM de Guzman who recently declared his love for her on national TV. The whole incident seemed to have created a gap between despite Jessy’s previous statement that they’ve already threshed things out. During a photo op with a few ABS-CBN executives, Jessy was caught on cam as she left the group without even speaking to JM. When asked if JM asked her to be his date for the night, she explained that she wanted to fly solo for a change. “Hindi ko alam [kung nasaan si JM]. Solo lang ako tonight. Yun lang yun.”
