Jodi Sta. Maria admits 'Be Careful With My Heart' revamped her career

Maria said she is thankful for all the blessings happening in her career right now. “Hindi ko talaga na inexpect na magiging ganito ang lahat. Siyempre sa umpisa ang gusto lang namin is mabigyan kami ng magandang rating pero sobra-sobra pa dun yung naibigay sa amin, so nagpapasalamat kami. Siyempre ang daming nangyayari ngayon so ang ginagawa namin talaga ni Papa Chen (Richard Yap) talagang strike while the iron is hot. Yun mga ganitong klaseng pagkakataon minsan lang dumating sa buhay so i-grab mo na yung mga opportunities,” she said. The 30-year-old actress admitted the pressure on being the lead star in a hit series is very high. “Siyempre nung umpisa aminado ako na habang tumataas yung ratings, lalong nakakakaba eh. Kasi parang where do we go from here hindi ba dahil na-reach mo na yung peak? But then kailangan naming ipa-realize sa mga sarili namin na hindi naman kami nandidito para sa ratings. Baka sa kakaisip namin ng ratings eh makalimutan namin kung ano ba talaga yung purpose ng programa, so kailangan ibalik namin yung mga sarili namin dun sa purpose ng show, which is to entertain and to give hope, love, and inspiration to our viewers,” she explained. Jodi admitted that her character Maya has a lot of attributes she can relate to. “Siguro number one yung sa pag-aalaga sa bata and siguro same kami ni Maya na positive lang. Parang good vibes lang siya lagi no matter how bad things are, alam mo yung she never fails to see the good side, kumbaga meron pa rin. I think bawat isa sa atin kailangan i-apply yang kapit-bisig na yan kasi hindi ba bawat isa sa atin may pinagdadaanan, kung hindi tayo magkakapit-bisig, paano na?” she explained. The talented actress said she and her co-star Richard Yap have also become more hands-on with the show. “Ini-involve din namin sarili namin sa storya, nag-su-suggest kami ng puwede or posibleng mga gawin or mangyari para mapaganda yung show. Kumbaga mas maaliw, mas matuwa, mas maging masaya yung mga manunuod namin,” she added. As fans of the show eagerly await what lies in store between lead characters Maya and Sir Chief in Be Careful With My Heart, Jodi said she and Richard have also gotten more comfortable working with each other. The pretty actress said she would even consider doing a movie with him if given the chance. “I would say na from acquaintance parang friends na kami (laughs). At saka kino-consider ko na si Richard na kaibigan ko sa showbiz, totoo po. Kung sa pelikula naman, eh bakit naman hindi di ba? Siyempre it’s an opportunity and an honor na makasama si mister Richard Yap sa film. And I’m sure na magandang working experience na naman ito para sa akin,” she said. Aside from her daily weekday series, Jodi said that she has not missed out on doing independent films this year. “Well actually hindi kasi katatapos ko lang naman gumawa, naka-dalawa ako this year. Nilabas na yung Migrante at saka yung Apparition. Wala pang iba kasi mahirap tumanggap ngayon kasi packed yung schedule eh, mahirap masingitan kasi almost everyday din kami nag-te-taping ngayon,” she said. For more updates on Jodi Sta.
