Janice de Belen says that playing a kontrabida role makes her feel that she can do more when it comes to acting.
Janice de Belen will showcase her versatility as an actress in the upcoming teleserye Ina, Kapatid, Anak
where she will portray the role of the main antagonist. “’Yung
is different from what I usually play. I haven’t played this in a really long time so parang
exciting for me,” she explained.
The actress was also asked if she is ready to be loathed by some fans who get carried away by what they watch on TV. “Deadma lang naman ako sa mga ganun kasi
as an actress you need to be able to play different roles,” she replied. “Atsaka
it’s exciting for us din kasi. Kung parating mabait kasi
corny na eh, gusto mo naman ng
spice, gusto mo ng konting anghang. Nakaka-
I had to bring out the inner bad.”
She confessed that the only reason that made her hesitate to accept the role is the idea that her character is the wife of the role of her real-life brother-in-law, Ariel Rivera, husband of Janice’s younger sister, Gelli de Belen. “Medyo mahirap nang
slight, weird ang
feeling. But then again, as an actress you have to get past that. Talagang mahirap sa umpisa
but then after a while, [when] you get past it, okay naman.
A number of actresses who played kontrabidas in previous ABS-CBN teleseryes became so effective that they have been considered iconic. Janice was asked if she wants her character to achieve the same success. To this, Janice answered, “You want to do well [with your job]. When you do well, ‘yung pagmamarka
comes with the doing well, so bago mo isipin magmarka, isipin mo muna gawin mo ‘yung tama
Janice added that since she has been portraying the good guy for the entire stretch of her showbiz career, she could not help but feel excited about playing the antagonist. “Ang mabait na
role feeling ko
for me it’s a given. I’ve been doing that ever since. To play a kontrabida
role, ‘yun ‘yung marami kang nagagawa. Mas masarap pa ang
role nila kasi hindi naman pwedeng
], ganyan lang ‘yan
Speaking of inner bad, Janice was also asked what ruins her mood, to which she immediately replied, “Naiinis ako sa mayabang, sa
arrogance. I think naman ‘yung kinaiinisan natin, kinaiinisan ko rin.
But there are just different degrees of what you can take. Di mawawala ‘yun eh. Marami kang makikilalang mayabang
in varying degrees so you just have to learn to roll with it. Kung di mo
type, wag mo nang kausapin
When she enounters someone proud, Janice deals with it my being indifferent. “Deadma naman. ‘Yun ang problema pag ‘di ko talaga gusto ‘di ko talaga maitago kahit anong
try ko, hindi ko talaga maitago, pag kinausap ko di ko tinitingnan sa mata, ang hirap talaga
