Toni Gonzaga says it's a pleasure to work with Vice Ganda

090212-toni_main.jpgOne of the most anticipated comedy movies of this year is the film This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare starring Toni Gonzaga, Luis Manzano, and Vice Ganda. In a recent interview, Toni disclosed that they are almost done shooting the film which is expected to hit cinemas this coming October.

Since Vice Ganda is a certified box-office star, Toni admitted that she somehow feels reassured that their movie could do well in the box office. Apart from that, the TV host-actress added that she feels privileged to work with a phenomenal star like Vice from whom she has learned a lot. “I’m really blessed to be working with Vice. Vice is a phenomenal star, ‘yung achievements niya, ‘yung mga nangyari sa buhay niya, ang bilis,” she said. “Ang laki agad ng biyayang ibinigay sa kanya ng Diyos.

“To be given the opportunity to star with him in a film...I’m really grateful, [I’m] so happy and thrilled to be part of this project kasi I’m learning so much from him. This is a good collaboration from Star Cinema and with Luis as well, dahil maganda ‘yung working relationship, maganda ‘yung chemistry namin sa set, so this is one project na I’m looking forward na mapanood naming lahat.”

Nowadays, many A-list stars venture into indie movies and Toni disclosed that she is open to doing an indie film. “I’d like to do something [different] also in the future and out-of-the box kasi puro romantic-comedy ang ginagawa ko. Given the proper opportunity, the right story, I’m also looking forward na makagawa ng iba naman,” she explained.

She has no particular dream role in mind, but Toni said that she wants to play a role that can affect the viewers in a positive way. “Gusto ko siguro na something na may redeeming factor, hindi ganun ka-dark. ‘Yung paglabas ng sine ng mga tao may hope pa rin silang mararamdaman.”

She continued that she does not want to portray a role which can make the viewers feel down and make them feel hopeless. “Nakapanood ako ng mga ganong pelikula na pagkatapos [mapanood] parang ang bigat-bigat ng pakiramdam ko, na may suicidal attempt ka na, parang darating ka sa gano’n kung wala kang faith.

“Kung gagawa naman ng indie gusto ko something inspiring, may redeeming factor ‘yung character that can influence people’s lives on a positive level,” she stressed.

Toni acknowledged the fact that she is identified with teleseryes. Some of the few teleseryes she starred in include Si Kokey At Ako and Maging Sino Ka Man Book 2. But she revealed that included in her contract with ABS-CBN is a teleserye, which they might start doing either late this year or next year.

Toni also revealed that she is going to start on her next album, which she said will be something different from her previous ones. “I told Star Records na I’m already 28, siguro we will venture into not daring but deeper and mature songs na appropriate for my market.”
