JM de Guzman hints at going through a family problem

<div><img src='' alt='080512-jm-main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>In an exclusive interview with <a href='http://Push.com.ph'>Push.com.ph</a>, JM de Guzman revealed that he’s motivated to work harder after his impressive portrayals in his 2012 Cinemalaya entry <i>Intoy Syokoy Sa Kalye Marino </i>and a recent <i>Maalaala Mo Kaya</i> episode. “<i>Lalo ko pa gusto pagbutihan. Sa totoo lang may bago akong</i> goal <i>ngayon. Gusto ko mag-</i>rent-to-own<i> ng</i> condo for my mom. <i>Kapag may </i>projects <i>na dumating sa akin, mas ipapakita ko na kaya ko para mas may ipagkatiwala sa akin</i>,” he began.</div><div><br/></div><div>Apparently, this decision has something to do with a family problem that he refused to disclose at this point. “<i>May sari-sarili tayong </i>issue <i>sa</i> family. [Yung] mom <i>ko kailangan…Sa akin na lang</i> [kung bakit]. <i>Gusto ko lang may sarili siyang bahay. Tapos lalayo ako, kasi ayoko masanay na</i> [dependent sa pamilya]. <i>Pero magkatabi lang yung</i> unit <i>namin. Yung sa akin</i> rent <i>lang</i>.” </div><div><br/></div><div>JM said that it’s his first time to live on his own, but he’s determined to handle more responsibilities, which includes taking care of his mom’s needs as well. “Yes, <i>ngayon lang ako nakapagisip</i> [na gawin]. <i>Tinanong nga ako kung sino magaasikaso sayo? Pero yun na nga ang </i>challenge, <i>dapat sarili ko. Kaya ko ‘to. Pero hindi ko siya iiwan. Magkatabi kami ng </i>condo unit,<i> isu-</i>supply <i>ko yung</i> groceries <i>niya. Tapos may tutulong sa kanya na kamaganak din namin, titira kasama niya</i>.” </div><div><br/></div><div>Incidentally, <i>Intoy Syokoy Ng Kalye Marino,</i> an adaptation of the Palanca-award-winning short fiction of Eros Atalia, tells the story of a man who survived a traumatic childhood, complicated love affair and other harsh realities in life. Coupled with his own real-life struggles, JM has learned to appreciate his craft all the more. “<i>Medyo malaki ang isinakripisyo ko dun. May mga ginawa akong hindi pwede gawin sa </i>TV. I gave my best for that role. <i>Una ang yabang ko pa, ayoko tanggapin yung</i> role. <i>Pero yung</i> lesson <i>na natutunan ko sa </i>movie <i>na yun, wala akong alam sa pagarte. Kaya sobrang</i> thankful <i>ako kina</i> Mr. Boy Abunda <i>at</i> Mr. Boy So (producers of the film)<i> kasi na-</i>realize <i>ko</i> through this film <i>na</i> it’s not about what you know, but how much you love what you do. It will just come out in the process.”</div><div><br/></div>
