Zsa Zsa on Dolphy: 'Sa kanya ko natutunan kung paano mahalin at magmahal'

071312-zsazsa1_main.jpgAfter many weeks of being elusive to the public, Zsa Zsa Padilla finally broke her silence as she delivered a moving eulogy for her longtime partner, Comedy King Dolphy, during ABS-CBN’s special tribute held at the Dolphy Theater, Wednesday, July 11. The singer-actress shared that she tried her best to be brave amidst Dolphy’s failing condition in the past few weeks. “Lovey (Dolphy) helped me to be strong. Ayaw niya akong nakikitang umiyak.

Even when he was unconscious at the hospital, she would always check if he’s still responsive by persistently talking to him using their term of endearment. “Wala akong ginawa kundi kulitin siya. ‘Lovey! Lovey!’ That's our gauge for understanding kung talagang conscious siya. I miss you Lovey.”

Zsa Zsa also shared how Dolphy’s illness united their family and strengthened their bond as they all gathered together in the hospital for the past month. “To his children, I know he loves each of them totally. And in his dying days we would all crowd in the ICU, I would tell him that he's so lucky. To all his kids who came home from all over the world, Dolphy went to heaven with joy in his heart because you’re all with him in his last days on earth.”

She also thanked Eric Quizon for keeping things together particularly since he acted as the spokesperson of the family. “To Eric maraming salamat for being the voice of calm and reason, for being so organized. You make your dad so proud. To Kaye (Karylle), thank you very much for your acceptance and forgiveness.”

Zsa Zsa further described her relationship with Dolphy and their big family, “Ours is not a conventional family pero sa kanya ko natutunan kung paano mahalin at magmahal. Hindi naging madali pero he was worth it. To Dolphy, thank you very much for being so proud of me, for giving my two girls, for being so thoughtful and for doing your best to provide for us.”

She also thanked ABS-CBN for putting up a beautiful tribute to the Comedy King. “Napakarami po ng pinagkakautangan namin ng pasasalamat. Maraming salamat ABS-CBN for taking care of Dolphy's legacy, for preserving his body of work for generations of Filipinos to enjoy perpetuity. I know this will make Dolphy happy.

She then sang a few lines from their favorite song Through The Years, “Kagaya ng huli mong binulong sa akin bago ka mamaalam, Lovey ko, I love you," she finally stated.
