In an exclusive interview by TV Patrol’s Mario Dumaual, Grace Lee finally answered the pressing questions by the public regarding her relationship with President Nonoy Aquino. “We are dating, we are starting, so sana everyone would give us time and space to get to know each other more. To be liked by a man who leads a country is very flattering but siyempre naman I’m worried also and of course, my family is worried also on the public attention. And I just didn’t think it was going to happen this fast,” Grace explained. The Korean TV and radio personality first met PNoy June of 2011.
Grace, whose family migrated to the Philippines in the 90s when she was 10 years old, said she was also conscious of what people would say of her being Korean . “I was kinda worried about that. ‘Yun nga this is the reason why I fell in love with the Filipino people in the first place, so accepting. And so understanding.”
A graduate of Interdisciplinary Studies, Communications and Chinese Studies at the Ateneo De Manila University, Grace didn’t imagine that she’d be dating the President of the Philippines. “Such a gentleman, when he acknowledged it. I think that was out of respect for me which I really appreciate because he doesn’t need (to do) this, but he did. And that tells you a lot what kind of man he is. And he’s such an inspiring character.”
With people questioning their age gap and racial difference, Grace was asked if she agrees in the saying ‘love knows no boundaries?’ “Well whatever we have right now at least will serve as an inspiration to a lot of people out there. But aside from that, I would like to believe so as well myself,” she candidly answered.
Grace also admitted she has already thought of what to give the president on his birthday this coming February 8. “What can you give the president? I mean that’s so difficult. I’m brewing something up. Surprise na lang.” On the suggestion that she can also give her love as a gift, Grace laughingly answered, “Oo nga, pwede rin.”
