Cathy Garcia-Molina denies that 'Unofficially Yours' is promoting casual sex

<img src='' alt='021112-cathy-main.jpg' border='0' height='290' width='305' align='left'>Even though Unofficially Yours tells the story of a casual relationship, director Cathy Garcia Molina made it clear that the movie has no intention of promoting sex before marriage, especially to the youth. “Lagi kong iniisip na madaming teenagers ang makakapanood ng pelikula. So I made sure na nilagay ko yung intimate scenes not for anything, pero kasi kailangan ko sa kwento. At nilagay ko yun hindi para sabihin sa young viewers na ‘eto ang gawin niyo.’ Nilagay ko yun kasi yun ang realidad. At the end of the movie, naniniwala pa rin ako dun sa regular type of relationship, yung traditional kind na girlfriend-boyfriend,” said the box office director in an interview with <a href='http://Push.com.ph'>Push.com.ph</a>. Direk Cathy admitted that she had filmed several bed scenes in accordance with the premise of Unofficially Yours starring John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin. “Very intimate yung love scenes. Kasi ako naman kapag gumagawa ng pelikula, ang gusto ko laging ma-achieve dapat relatable. Ayaw na ayaw ko na may nagsasabi sa isang eksena na, ‘Hindi naman nangyayari ‘yan sa totoong buhay!’ ‘Yan ang inaayawan ko sa pelikula kaya lagi akong naka-base sa realidad, whether ikaw mismo ang naka-experience or sa kaibigan mo nangyari.” Direk Cathy admitted that it was a challenge for John Lloyd and Angel to go through with the sexy aspect of the movie. “Si Lloydy naman kasi after Amnesia Girl na pinaghubad ko siya, sabi niya, ‘Direk sagad na ‘to, sagad na.’ So dito sa Unofficially Yours sabi niya, ‘Direk mas sinagad mo ako dito!’ Talagang walang natira sa kanya. Hindi ko naman ito-totally nude siya. Yun ang iiwan ko sa imahinasyon niyo. Actually, hirap na hirap kami kasi in reality, kapag nag-se-sex ka naman wala ka namang balot e, wala ka namang takip. But this is film and you want the audience to watch ng hindi naman sila na-o-offend. Lalagyan mo ng cinematic light, but as much as possible we want to show what’s true and what’s real.” Direk Cathy was also grateful because Angel trusted her enough to pursue her most daring role yet. “Si Angel talaga kinabahan. Namumula siya at grabe ang lamig lamig ng kamay niya. Kasi first day of shooting love scene agad. Paano niya na-overcome yung nerbyos? Kailangan nararamdaman niya na protektado siya, na hindi siya nababastos, na kailangan ko siya maghubad at mag-plaster kasi kailangan ko sa eksena. Hindi dahil gusto ko sabihin ‘Oy si Angel nakahubad o!’, hindi e. It’s never the intention of the film or any of us. Sa totoong love scene naman hindi ka naka-bra so bakit ko lalagyan? Pero kailangan protected so naka-plaster sa ilalim. Ang kukunan kung ano lang ang kailangan ko sa lente. Otherwise, ang hirap umarte ng nakapantalon at naka-tube tapos love scene.” Nevertheless, Direk Cathy assured the moviegoers that they’ll enjoy the film because it’s a sexy romantic comedy. “Hindi mo kasi siya titignan as bastos. Parte lang talaga ng kwento. Rom-com talaga yung genre kasi matapang na yung kwento, so kapag sineryoso mo yung treatment, baka ma-alienate naman ang viewers. So nilagyan namin ng comedy to lighten up the feel of the movie.”
