Gerald Anderson says he will always be proud of Manny Pacquiao

121312-gerald_main.jpgJust like the other Filipinos who saw the Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez fight in Las Vegas last December 9, Gerald Anderson said he was shocked and saddened to see the “Pambansang Kamao” get knocked out in the sixth round. “Siyempre nadurog puso ko nun. Naiyak nga ako eh. Naiyak ako nung napanuod ko but at the end of the day, manalo, matalo, you know he’s still our hero and siya pa rin ang Pinoy pride natin,” he told Push.com.ph during the Liwanag ng Pasko ABS-CBN Christmas Special taping held last December 11 at the Araneta Center in Cubao.

The 23-year-old actor admitted to being a big Manny Pacquiao fan and even arrived at the event proudly wearing a shirt bearing the Pinoy boxer’s face and the Philippine flag. Gerald said he was not disheartened by the outcome of the fight and looks forward to watching Manny’s fights in the years to come.  “Oo naman, I’m really a big Pacquiao fan. Actually, I think that out of all his fights, kahit dun sa mga panalo niya, this is the best time para maging proud sa kanya,” he said.

Starting next year, Gerald said he is most looking forward to working with his newest leading lady Cristine Reyes in their new Kapamilya teleserye. “In a couple of weeks mag-sa-start na kami sa Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin. Mga first week ng January. Nag-bond na rin kami. Oo naman kumbaga we’re just getting ready para mag-start na. Magaling si Cristine and she can offer something different para sa mga viewers,” he said.

Gerald admitted he is excited to see how the fans will accept his new leading lady. So far, he says he is comfortable with Cristine. “Oo naman, iba naman. Siyempre hindi naman, walang ilangan. Wala, wala talaga. Siguro dahil pareho kaming professional at saka lahat naman kami excited para mag-shooting na. gusto nga namin mag-January na eh.  Kumbaga leading lady ko siya so for the next six months kumbaga I’ll do my best para alagaan at magkaroon kami siyempre ng chemistry as a onscreen partner,” he shared.

Gerald also said that he doesn’t think there will be an issue with Cristine’s boyfriend Rayver Cruz regarding any intimate scenes that he and Cristine may have in the series. Rayver is also Gerald’s basketball teammates io the Star Magic team. “Si Rayv ang dapat niyong tanungin diyan (laughs). kumbaga siyempre. Pero alam niyo si Rayver ano yan eh, professional yun. Pero tanungin niyo pag nakausap niyo siya (laughs),” he said.
