Maricel Soriano is now officially back with ABS-CBN after signing a contract with the Kapamilya network Monday, November 25. “Siyempre unang-una nagpapasalamat ako. Ang saya-saya ko dahil napaka-warm ng welcome sa akin talaga at naramdaman ko kaya happing-happy ako,” the Diamond Star said. She added that nothing compares to the feeling of being at home, especially since she has been a Kapamilya before for many years.
Maricel’s comeback soap opera with ABS-CBN has a working title Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, which will also star Gerald Anderson, Cristine Reyes, Rayver Cruz, Diana Zubiri, Tonton Gutierrez, and Dina Bonnevie. She said that she is excited to work with her contemporaries and a new breed of actors. “I’m very excited working with Dina kasi it’s been a long time [since we last worked together]. I Will Survive ‘yung last namin, that’s a long time ago… ’Wow,’ sabi ko, ‘How nice naman working with Tonton again,’” she said.
Just as much as she is looking forward to working with her contemporaries, Maricel is also excited to work with younger stars like Gerald who will play her son in the teleserye. “Anak ko ‘yon, very handsome,” Maricel said about Gerald. “Si Rayver kasi grew up with us sa (sitcom) Kaya ni Mister, Kaya ni Misis. Binata na sila and they’re very tall like my sons, [because] my two boys are also tall.”
The dramatic actress added that she holds these young stars in high regard, especially since they were trained by a person that she also looks up to. “[I feel] very blessed to work with them lalo na galing sila sa tatay ko, kay Mr. M (Johnny Manahan). Alam ko talagang magaling ‘yung training na ginawa sa kanila. Inalagaan sila dahil hands-on ang tatay ko sa kanila. Tingnan mo naman lahat sila magaling.”
Earlier this month, Maricel said that she had a very short conversation with Gerald at the birthday party of Deo Endrinal, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head. “Nung birthday pa lang ni Deo dun pa lang kami nagkaroon ng a little chat. I was able to talk to him a little bit lang,” Maricel shared.
After a long hiatus, the original Taray Queen could not hide her eagerness to go back to work because she really missed acting. “Excited kasi matagal ka nang naka-rest. Gusto mo nang mag-work,” she explained. “Di ba minsan pag Friday na, ‘Oy, pahinga na.’ Looking forward tayo to rest ‘di ba? Pero pagdating ng Sunday excited ka na for Monday, ganun ‘yun di ba? O di ganun din ako. It’s been a long time na nag-rest ako. Ngayon na naiisip mo ‘yung iba. Ano? ‘Ay, oo nga, halika na nga mag-shooting na tayo.’ May ganyan na siya, excited na.”
