Anne Curtis on her movie's limited publicity at ABS-CBN: 'In the long run naintindihan ko'

110112-anne_main.jpgAnne Curtis happily announced that Viva Films’ A Secret Affair has reached the 100 million-peso mark within six days. She was grateful that it became a box office success through the help of her avid fans who continue to encourage other moviegoers to watch the film. “Sobra akong happy. I’m just so happy how it turned out in spite of the promo that we just had. I’m so happy because of social media and word of mouth naging successful yung movie. I really want to thank my Twitter followers that shared the trailer and the unforgettable lines. They made sure to share how they felt about the movie. Ganon naman talaga ang success ng isang movie. It's really word of mouth,” said Anne during the thanksgiving party of A Secret Affair at City Best restaurant last Tuesday night, October 30.

Based on her statement, it seems that she was really affected with the limited publicity of the movie within her home network. Anne previously revealed in her interviews that she was given a directive from ABS-CBN management not to mention Derek Ramsay’s name on her noontime show. When asked if she was able to speak with her bosses after she said her piece about their promo decision, the actress replied, “Kinausap naman nila ako and inexplain nila yung side nila which I understand naman. It really just takes that naman e, na kausapin ka para maintindihan.” Does she still feel bad about it? “Well, in the long run naintindihan ko. Pero kasi it became a funny thing, A Secret Affair tapos kami lang ni Andi (Eigenmann) ‘di ba?”

On a different note, Anne shared that she made an effort to personally see the audience’s feedback about the movie. Apparently, she went incognito when she watched the film at a busy mall in Makati. “It just so happened na nanood ako sa Glorietta the other day ng pa-secret. Nakatago ako kasi gusto ko makita reaction ng tao na hindi sila nagpunta for the premiere night. Nandun sila to watch. Iba kasi yun e.

She was ecstatic because the audience understood the message that the film was trying to convey. “Talagang nakakataba ng puso. Kung saan sila dapat mag-react, doon talaga. ‘Ay abs!’ ‘Bongga ng linya!’ Pinapalakpakan talaga si Ms. Jaclyn Jose, the one and only. And sila mismo ang nagsasabi na pangatlong beses na namin napanood yung movie. So sobra kaming nagpapasalamat. We owe our success to all of you (moviegoers). Dahil sa inyo nakaka-inspire lalo na gumawa ng pelikula.” She added one good thing about the film is that “it didn’t condone the affair. It finally put a stop to it and that’s it.”

Will she still do a film with the same theme? “I don’t know. I love to do a lot of films kasi it adds to your versatility na hindi lang parepareho. Mahilig ako sa comedy. Ito naman hindi siya maldi-maldi. Iba naman siya. So who knows what script will fall into my lap the next time? But anything na attracted ako sa character gagawin ko.”
