Vice Ganda hopes to get the Phenomenal Box-Office Star title for the second time

One of its stars, Vice Ganda, is optimistic that there is a chance that the film might match—if not surpass—the earnings of his previous hit movie The <i>Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,</i> which is currently considered as the top-grossing local movie of all time.</div><div><br/></div><div><i>“Pwede daw kasi tinitignan nila ‘yung</i> projection everyday,” the comedian explained. “<i>May</i> projection<i> sila kung magkano ang kikitain. Dumidikit siya sa Praybeyt Benjamin tapos may isang araw na tinalo niya ‘yung gross ng </i>[<i>Praybeyt</i>] <i>Benjamin. Parang pang</i> third day <i>tinalo niya ‘yung kinita ng </i>[<i>Praybeyt</i>]<i> Benjamin sa </i>third day<i> niya</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Vice went on to say that he feels nervous to know that his films are being pitted against each other as far as the total gross is concerned. “<i>Sa loob ng apat na araw, naka</i>-P100 million<i> na ‘yung This Guy’s</i>…, <i>eh ‘yung Praybeyt</i> [<i>Benjamin</i>] <i>naka</i>-P100 million <i>siya sa</i> fifth day <i>niya kaya parang tatalunin nito ang</i> [<i>Praybeyt</i>]<i> Benjamin</i>,” added Vice.</div><div><br/></div><div>Vice said he is also happy that the movie is getting positive reviews. “<i>Bukod dun sa malaking kinikita, andaming magagandang</i> reviews <i>‘yung sinasabi ng mga tao. Bukod sa nakakatawa, maganda ang istorya at totoo ‘yung pangyayari. Nagustuhan nila, maganda ang pagkakagawa,</i>” he beamed.</div><div><br/></div><div>In connection to this, some people are saying that Vice might get the title Phenomenal Box Office Star for the second time in a row, which he first earned for his record-breaking film <i>The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin </i>in 2011. Phenomenal Box-Office Star is a new category created by Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation for the Box Office Entertainment Awards to honor Vice for his success.</div><div><br/></div><div>He confessed, “<i>Oo, pinagdarasal pero kung ano ang ibigay sa akin ng Diyos</i> okay <i>na. Sobrang malaking </i>bonus<i> na ‘yun eh. ‘Yung matapos lang namin nang matiwasay ‘yung pelikula na walang naging problema</i>… as in never <i>kaming nagkaproblema at </i>all, <i>ang saya-saya. Tapos ‘yung kumita, maraming nagandahan pinanood nang paulit-ulit, ‘yung nag</i>-pay off<i> lahat ng pinagtrabahuhan namin</i>.”</div><div><br/></div><div>While <i>This Guy’s In Love With U, Mare</i> is a comedy, the movie’s director, Wenn Deramas admitted that the concept of the movie is not far from reality. The story is about a man who leaves his gay lover to be with a girl. Even Vice admitted that the film is close to his heart because there are scenes in the movie that he can relate to.</div><div><br/></div><div>“<i>Kahit ilang beses ko nang napanood mayroong</i> certain scenes <i>doon na kapag napanood ko umiiyak pa rin ako. ‘Yung nag-</i>sorry <i>sa akin si</i> Luis Manzano [<i>sa eksena</i>] <i>naiyak ako doon. </i>Last scene <i>na ginawa namin</i> last shooting day <i>nang tapos na ‘yung eksena nung pag-uwi ko sa </i>van <i>iyak ako nang iyak,</i>” he related. While he was being emotional, Vice said that Luis called him up and asked why he was crying.  “<i>Sabi ko</i> [<i>kay</i> Luis]<i> ‘yun ‘yung eksaktong mga salita na gustong marinig ng isang bakla sa dati niyang dyowa.</i>”</div><div><br/></div><div>For his next project, Vice will star with Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai de las Alas for the Metro Manila Film Fest entry, <i>Sisteraka</i>.</div>

While Vice Ganda wants the Phenomenal Box-Office Star title again, he's already happy with the success of 'This Guy's In Love With U, Mare.'
