Erich Gonzales says she cooked adobo for Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer

101912-erich_main.jpgErich Gonzales admitted she really enjoyed working with her new leading man Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer for Suddenly It’s Magic. “It’s fun working with him kasi ang bait niya, walang kayabang yabang sa katawan and na-discover namin na sobra siyang playful, napaka-naughty niya, parang kid-at-heart talaga siya. Para lang siyang 16 years old, napaka-playful niya. Sobrang naging madali para makisama sa lahat siya. Kahit sino, kahit utility sobrang bait na tao,” she shared.

Erich said that she even cooked adobo for Mario and the rest of his Thai staff after she found out that they were curious to try the popular Filipino dish. “Sabi ni Mario gustong-gusto niya makatikim ng adobo so one time na yung eksena ko that day sa gabi pa, so meron akong time para ipagluto siya at yung team niya. Nagustuhan naman nila,” she said.

Erich recalled that when she first met Mario, she knew that working with him on this project would be very positive. ”First time ko ma-meet si Mario, pumunta siya dito sa ABS-CBN sa first meeting namin yun na medyo may pagka-storycon siya kasama yung writer, si Direk Rory (Quintos) so siyempre nung una hiya-hiya muna pero naging close talaga kami nung nag-shooting na kami sa Ilocos. Kumbaga, nag-click lang kaagad kasi we have a lot in common and napaka-cool, napaka-fun niyang kasama. No dull moment talaga pag kasama si Mario kasi palabiro siya, ang gaan gaan kasama sobra,” she said.

The movie was shot in the Philippines and in locations like Ayutthaya and Bangkok in Thailand. Unlike the other Thai members of the production crew who had a 12-hour work cut-off, Erich said Mario did not mind the longer working hours in the Philippines. Siguro nung unang-una lang nagkakahiyaan pero nung nag-click na lahat hanggang sa matapos and even up to now nag-ko-communicate kami and yun, we really became good friends,” she revealed.

Suddenly It’s Magic features local customs like the provincial fiesta and bayanihan as well as other lessons on Filipino culture. The Star Cinema film will also have screenings in countries like Singapore and the United States.

The 22-year-old actress said that she is confident that the movie will do well but she can’t deny there is still pressure until its October 31 playdate. “In every project naman na-pe-pressure talaga ako pero basta we just hope and pray na magustuhan ng viewers ang Suddenly It’s Magic. I think isang pressure lang talaga yang na-fi-feel mo, walang maliit na pressure. Ganun. Dasal na lang po. Itong movie na ito madaming makaka-relate sa story nito. Hindi lang siya puro pang-teens, kuwento siya ng buong pamilya at maraming lessons na matututunan dito at lalabas ka ng sinehan na nakangiti at feel good lang,” she said.
