Piolo Pascual says that he loves the pros and cons of being in showbiz.
Piolo Pascual revealed in a recent interview that he chooses what he reads to shield himself from negative and harmful write-ups about him. “Para namang sinaktan mo pa ‘yung sarili mo pag babasahin mo pa ‘yan, at the same time magagalit ka lang, so wag na lang. When people tell me about it (negative write-ups) you know, wala akong magagawa, eh,” he related. When prodded if he would rather ignore these hurtful articles, he replied, “Oo, kasi hindi naman makakatulong ‘yon eh.”
He does not deny that until now, he still gets affected when he learns about write-ups criticizing him. “Kaya nga hindi ako nagbabasa eh. Nakakasama ng loob, tao lang. Ganon eh. Nasa showbiz tayo, eh so lahat naman entitled sa kanilang opinion,” he explained.
He added that he is fully aware that he is being bashed in social networking sites like Twitter because other users can be cruel. Piolo has an Instagram and Facebook account though. “Minsan nga ang ginagawa ko bina-block ko, nire-report ko,” he shared. He even revealed the time when he challenged a basher to a fistfight. “Minsan pinapatulan ko. Nag-text sa akin. Pinatulan ko. Basta may sinabi siya, sabi ko, ‘Lika dito suntukan tayo.’ Sabi niya, ‘Hindi, kakampi ako.’ Sabi ko, ‘Eh di wag kang epal.’ Sabi ko, ‘Magpakita ka sa akin magsukatan tayo ng pagkalalaki.’”
Piolo also gave his reaction to observations of other press people that he is elusive when it comes to interviews. “I’ve been in the business long enough to say na I’ve always been me, wala naman akong tinatago, eh,” he explained. “Sometimes iniisip ko, ‘Ba’t ba ako nasa showbiz bilang mahiyain ako?’ Eh trabaho ko ‘to eh. This is what I breathe, this is what I live [for]. Eto lang talaga ako. Whatever I can offer, whatever I can give, ‘yun na ‘yon. Mahal ko ‘yung trabaho, mahal ko ‘yung showbiz, mahal ko ‘yung mga tao. Hindi naman ako masikretong tao, eto lang talaga ako.”
With the promise he gave his 15-year-old son, Iñigo, that he will settle down three years from now, Piolo said he intends to enjoy those years. “I promised him I’ll settle down when he’s 18, so hopefully before I turn 40. Malapit na. [In] three years I’ll be 38 so I’ll be able to enjoy. I just really [have to] live my life to the fullest,” he explained.
